Job Description Summary

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.

The role Impacts the team's ability to achieve quality and timeliness of objectives and is subject to operating policy objectives. There is significant autonomy within the role. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.

The most critical aspects of this role initially are: a) Executing and risk management of 7HA.02 projects in the US and Middle East, b) Supporting rapid growth of data centers applications, c) CAPA resolution that impacts installed units and future sales. Because of the short term urgency, the successful candidate must be familiar with recent 7HA Plant development and provide more continuity than normally expected.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead Systems Integration:  Provide Plant System Engineering expertise including product history, plant layout, configuration control, performance limits and MGPP’s.  Effectively balance product goals / understand trade-offs for: quality, performance, cost, reliability, operability, and emissions.
  • Scope Engineering Work:  Work with Product Line to agree on HDPE engineering scope then set budgets and schedules accordingly.
  • Lead Customer discussions on Issues and Solutions:  Quickly and decisively solve customer issues related to product quality, performance, reliability, and operability to build goodwill and trust in GEV. Discuss issues and solutions to customers.
  • Communicate and Abate Risk:  Clearly identify and communicate technical and program risks.  Devise, communicate and implement mitigation actions to lower these risks by working collaboratively across business functions.
  • Set Strategy and Communicate:  Set and clearly communicate strategic direction in partnership with product-management and sales.  Enable GEV to differentiate from its competitors and adapt to changing power-market environment for customers with consideration for regional differences.
  • Improve Work Processes:  Collaboratively work across organizations (manufacturing, services, engineering, product management) to improve processes, role clarity, and tools to improve speed and effectiveness.
  • Mentorship: Provide mentorship to professional and lead professional engineers inside and outside of the team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering or related fields
  • Minimum of 8 years of working experience in Power Plant industry activities
  • Minimum 4 yrs. experience in rotating equipment (Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, or Generator) and their auxiliaries
  • Minimum 8 yrs. experience in power system engineering
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and be comfortable in technical discussions to customers
