On-site
Boston, MA
$32,000 - $34,000 USD yearly

Lids is expanding its COOP campus retail presence in Boston, bringing the spirit of licensed sports, fashion and collegiate pride to Harvard and MIT communities. The COOP stores blend heritage with modern service, delivering a campus-focused shopping experience that resonates with students, faculty, staff and visitors. The Team Member I PT role supports this campus retail experience, keeping it welcoming, organized and locally relevant across the Harvard and MIT locations.

The position is part-time and onsite in Boston, opening opportunities to build retail skills while helping people connect with their schools. It’s a good fit for someone who enjoys working with a university crowd, likes a steady rhythm through busy periods, and wants to contribute to a team that values service and consistency in a campus setting.

If you like helping students find products that feel personal to their school and community, and you’re energized by working with teammates who share a straightforward, service-focused approach, this could be the right role for you.

Keeping the campus store friendly and efficient

On shift, you’ll greet a broad mix of shoppers, from students and faculty to alumni and visitors, and you’ll learn the Harvard or MIT store layout and campus-specific needs to guide buyers effectively. You’ll offer informed recommendations, answer routine questions, and connect customers with the right team member when needed. You’ll also help support The COOP membership experience and apply school, store, or customer programs, discounts and tender rules accurately.

In terms of day-to-day operations, you’ll process transactions with care, keep selling and back-of-house areas neat and ready, and pitch in with receiving, product counts, transfers, fulfillment, returns, special orders and events as assigned. You’ll follow LidsU policies for safety, asset protection, customer data, inventory and store operations to maintain a smooth store floor that feels as seamless as a campus community should.

What you’ll bring to the COOP team

Required or highly desirable knowledge and traits are shaped by a campus retail frame. You’ll find it helpful to have some experience in retail, hospitality, bookstores, campus shops, or customer service, though it isn’t a hard prerequisite. You’ll be friendly, dependable, and comfortable engaging a wide range of customers. You should be ready to learn multiple product categories, store systems and operating procedures. Basic math, good communication, keyboarding, and organizational skills help a lot. And you must meet the minimum age and scheduling requirements for the position and location.

Advice for applicants in this campus role

Lead with campus-facing service experience on your resume, especially anything that involved working with students, faculty or campus programs. If you’ve had to learn a new product category or system quickly, place a brief, concrete example at the top so it’s obvious you pick up new steps fast.

In the interview, be ready to describe a time you helped a customer select the right item or explained a discount or store program clearly. Use a specific instance that shows you can assess a customer’s needs, offer a clear recommendation, and wrap up with a smooth checkout or handoff to another team member.

Think through how you’d handle high-traffic campus moments. Have a ready line about how you’d stay organized and courteous when orientation or commencement brings crowds, and how you’d collaborate with teammates to keep lines moving and shelves stocked.

Ask something thoughtful about the campus programs and discounts the COOP uses, or how the team trains for handling joins and memberships. A good question to ask is how the store measures success during high-volume periods and what a typical peak week looks like for the Harvard and MIT locations.
