In this role, you'll:

 


Help shape, deliver and improve culturally informed policies, tools and processes that strengthen Aboriginal perspectives across Transport for NSW. You will research and analyse key issues, coordinate consultation and governance activities, and create easy to use resources that turn reform goals into practical, measurable change in how we plan, deliver and operate. You will also lead culturally informed communication and storytelling across Transport for NSW, using a range of platforms to highlight, uplift and share the work being done with and for Aboriginal communities.


The Aboriginal Advancement Advisor will also be responsible for:

• Drafting and updating policies, guidelines and tools that embed Aboriginal cultural responsiveness across Transport operations.

• Ensuring documentation stays practical, accessible and aligned with organisational reform priorities.

• Conducting research, benchmarking and data analysis to inform advice, project papers and reform recommendations.

• Preparing clear summaries, briefs and reports that support leadership decisions and progress updates.

• Planning and supporting consultation with teams, Aboriginal staff networks and community stakeholders, analysing feedback to strengthen cultural integrity.

• Developing and maintaining templates, fact sheets and learning materials, coordinating communications, meetings and content production for reform initiatives.



This is an ongoing full-time position located at Wollongong.


This role can be filled through remote working and can be based anywhere in New South Wales. The roles require in person attendance on particular days of the week at your local TfNSW office.
This is an Aboriginal-identified role as it involves the development and delivery of services and programs which impact or require liaison with Aboriginal people and/or communities. About you

 


You are an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.

You have tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.

You are a clear and confident communicator who uses visual techniques and storytelling to share ideas. You’re a strong presenter who can share information in a way people understand.

You have experience drafting and implementing policies, guidelines and tools in complex organisations, and you understand governance, risk and change control.

You are skilled in research and analysis, including literature reviews, benchmarking and working with both qualitative and quantitative data. You can turn findings into clear briefs and practical recommendations.

You are a problem solver with strong analytical thinking, strategic planning and data interpretation skills.

You are a critical thinker who stays optimistic, asks questions, researches thoroughly and communicates diplomatically.

You have experience coordinating culturally informed consultation with Aboriginal stakeholders and using feedback to strengthen cultural integrity in your work.
