Administration Assistant
St Vincent's Health AustraliaSt Vincent’s Health Australia is growing its administration team at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, with several part-time and casual roles open in the Bolte Wing Reception and Interpreter Services. The organization is a leading teaching, research and tertiary health service guided by Compassion, Justice, Integrity and Excellence.
You’ll be at the front line, providing high-quality reception and administrative assistance that keeps clinical teams running smoothly. The hours are flexible up to 33 per week, Monday to Friday, with 3–12 month fixed-term opportunities available. If you enjoy a busy environment and taking care of details that matter to patient care, this could be a great fit.

A day in the life on the Fitzroy floor

You’ll manage a broad set of administrative duties, from referrals and appointment bookings to data entry, while keeping electronic records up to date and accurate. There’s also a clinical systems element, supporting Medicare billing and Day Procedure admissions, and you’ll provide ad hoc support to clinicians and multidisciplinary teams as needed.
Balancing priorities is part of the rhythm here: you’ll coordinate with reception colleagues, interpreter services and allied health staff to keep information flowing and patients informed. Because it’s a hospital setting, privacy, accuracy and a patient-focused approach are essential, and you’ll contribute to a team culture that values clear communication and collaborative problem solving.
The essentials you bring and what’s nice to have
To be successful, you’ll have a track record in front-desk or customer-facing work and a history of handling varied administrative tasks. You’ll be familiar with computerised patient administration systems and able to keep things organised even when priorities shift. Strong written and verbal communication, plus the ability to work well with others in a dynamic environment, are important. Above all, you’ll demonstrate a commitment to the values that guide St Vincent’s Health.
