Agnico Eagle Mines Limited is seeking an Advisor, Business Optimization - Metallurgy to join its team. The role sits in the Business Improvement Department and reports to the Director of Business Optimization. It’s a full-time, salaried position based in Toronto with a hybrid work option, and it carries the requisition code HEA00387.

Known as one of Canada’s leading mining companies and a global gold producer, Agnico Eagle operates in Canada, Australia, Finland and Mexico. The company has a long track record of sustainable practices and value creation for shareholders, with a commitment to safety, the environment and local communities. This opportunity is aimed at someone who wants to shape how metallurgical insights translate into better mine performance and financial outcomes.

If you bring a senior, multi-disciplinary background and want to influence executive decisions while collaborating across teams, this could be a good fit. The role appeals to professionals ready to leverage deep technical expertise to maximize the value of deposits and extend mine life through smarter optimization.

Shaping mine plans and value

Reporting to the Director, you’ll be part of the initiatives that identify and evaluate new operating scenarios with the goal of boosting profitability and extending the longevity of operations. You’ll review and refine the mine’s Full Potential Model within your area of expertise and work with cross‑functional groups to translate insights into practical concepts that raise corporate value. The work blends data analysis, scenario design and the application of best practices and emerging technologies to push improvements across geological, mining, metallurgical, infrastructure and environmental dimensions, with opportunities to support Innovation, Project Evaluation and Operational Excellence streams when needed.

In practice, you’ll look for opportunities to revise existing life-of-mine plans, spot high-value re-engineering opportunities, and craft scenarios that lift financial performance while aligning with the company’s targets. You’ll contribute ideas that enhance value, ensure chosen concepts stand up to scrutiny, and help translate technical findings into recommendations that can be acted on by operations and leadership teams.

Tips for applicants

Lead with your biggest, most relevant experience. Put that 15+ years of mining experience and at least 10+ years in metallurgy or your discipline up front, and tie it to roles where you led optimization or transformation projects that affected mine value or profitability.

Show how you prove you can shape decisions. Include concrete examples of data analysis, optimization scenario design and decisions you helped leadership make, especially those that connected technical work to financial outcomes or value creation.

Be ready for a technical‑to‑executive transition in interviews. Prepare to describe how you would review a mine life plan, identify high‑value re‑engineering opportunities, and apply emerging technologies while balancing safety and environmental considerations.

Ask a targeted question. A smart ask would be about how Agnico Eagle defines value within its Full Potential Model and which metrics matter most for the metallurgical stream, or how current transformation efforts across geological, mining, metallurgical, infrastructure and environmental areas are tracked at the executive level.
