Linamar Corporation, a Canadian-founded global manufacturer known for its advanced engineering, is seeking an IoT Software Engineer to join its onsite team in Guelph, Canada. This role focuses on creating, implementing, and supporting manufacturing software solutions that leverage IoT data to boost operational performance and decision-making. You’ll partner with development teams, subject matter experts, and end users to turn factory-floor needs into tangible features, validate the outcomes, and help roll out LMES and LMMS across multiple facilities. The company values innovation and collaboration, and this position sits at the intersection of data, software, and manufacturing. The role is full-time and onsite, with a wage band of 78,000.00 CAD (yearly) to 107,000.00 CAD (yearly) and a benefits package designed to support professional growth. The work is a great fit for someone who enjoys turning complex data into practical improvements in connected manufacturing environments.

Linamar was founded in 1966 and has grown into a global manufacturing leader known for its engineering and product development across diverse industries. The IoT Software Engineer will help drive the adoption of connected manufacturing technologies, collaborating with teammates across facilities to deliver new functionality, validate solutions, and support deployment and adoption of LMES and LMMS.

In this onsite, full-time role, you’ll be part of a team that combines technical problem-solving with proactive user engagement to push forward the next wave of manufacturing connectivity. You’ll have access to state-of-the-art tools while tackling real-world challenges on the shop floor, with opportunities to grow your career within a company committed to innovation, collaboration, and growth.

Connecting factory data with better performance

On a typical day you’ll translate factory-floor requirements into software features and build a working understanding of LMES and LMMS products. You’ll team up with developers to define what functionality should look like and how it should feel for users, then implement the chosen capabilities and work with subject matter experts to ensure the results meet the stated needs. You’ll help drive the deployment of these systems in new facilities and support their adoption in existing ones, conducting testing and validation to verify alignment with requirements, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. Documentation will accompany the development work throughout the lifecycle, and you’ll stay connected with end users to gather feedback for ongoing improvements.

In short, you’ll blend technical work with user input to deliver robust, usable solutions that help facilities make better decisions based on IoT data. The role requires hands-on software delivery, thoughtful validation, and clear communication as you support adoption across manufacturing sites.

Advice for applicants

Lead your resume with IoT software work tied to manufacturing and, if you have it, LMES/LMMS exposure. Open with a concise summary of your most relevant experience and the impact you’ve delivered in similar environments.

When you describe your must-have skills, back them with concrete projects. Name the microservices you’ve built or worked on, the object-oriented designs you used, the databases you managed, and how you applied CI/CD, security practices, and the specific protocols (MQTT, Ethernet/IP, OPC-DA) you handled in production settings.

Be prepared to walk through end-to-end scenarios in an interview: how you gathered requirements from end users, how you validated that the software met those needs, how you tested and deployed the solution, and how you supported adoption and ongoing improvements after go-live.

Ask a smart question about the role’s LMES/LMMS roadmap and how success is measured across facilities. A good question shows you’re thinking about long-term impact and how the team evaluates the value of IoT-driven improvements.
