Waipapa Taumata Rau | The University of Auckland is New Zealand’s leading university and one of the country’s largest employers. With more than 6,000 staff supporting over 47,000 students, the university steers its work across teaching, research and service with a clear aim for excellence. The Strategic Engagement portfolio coordinates the university’s external outreach, from marketing and communications to student recruitment, internationalisation, fundraising and alumni relations. Within that mix, the International Office focuses on translating global connections into tangible outcomes for students and partners.

The university is hiring a permanent full-time Agent and Pathway Operations Adviser to join the International Office. This onsite role sits in the International Future Students team, working in Auckland alongside the Agent and Pathway Operations Manager to support the network of international education agents and pathway partners. If you enjoy building strong relationships, keeping operations compliant, and turning data into smarter decisions, you’ll likely feel at home here.

In this position you’ll help ensure partnerships are well run and deliver solid results for prospective international students. You’ll collaborate with colleagues across the university to keep communications clear, manage contracts and performance, oversee commissions, monitor compliance, and push for practical improvements to how systems and reporting work. It’s a role that rewards thoughtful analysis and steady, service-minded delivery.

Day-to-day operations in the international pathways hub

On a typical day you’ll coordinate communications with the university’s education agent network and pathway providers, support contract administration, and help track performance against agreed targets. You’ll keep a close eye on compliance obligations and reconciliation tasks, balancing attention to detail with an ability to see how processes fit into the bigger picture. You’ll also pull together reporting and insights that inform strategic choices and help optimise the student recruitment process.

Beyond that, you’ll look for opportunities to improve systems and service delivery, documenting issues and proposing practical, data-informed solutions. The role involves partnering with many parts of the university and external partners, so you’ll contribute to a smooth flow of information and a strong experience for colleagues and partners alike.
