We are seeking an Alumni Relations Faculty Manager to be based in central Auckland. In this role, you will work to increase engagement by identifying and promoting the talent, advocacy, and support of our alumni and future alumni (students). You will directly support the faculty of Arts and Education and Auckland Law School.

This position sits within the Alumni Relations and Development (ARD) office, the core team responsible for engaging with alumni, friends, and philanthropic partners. Our work encompasses fundraising, global alumni relations, communications, database services, and governance support for external foundations managing the endowment fund.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Driving Connection: Acting as a hub of activity and engagement, bringing together diverse groups to celebrate success and recognise excellence. You will foster deeper involvement between staff, alumni, and students through mentoring, learning opportunities, and strategic partnerships.
  • Faculty Integration: Supporting your portfolio of faculties by maintaining a presence across central Auckland locations, including contributing to or presenting at leadership meetings.
  • Strategic Partnership: Engaging and partnering with Deans, senior leaders, and operational leads within the faculties and across the wider University.
  • Event Management: Playing a key role in the organisation and hosting of formal events, awards ceremonies, and social gatherings.
  • Communications & Marketing: Working closely with Communications and Marketing teams to execute and enhance communication plans, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, engaging newsletters and digital content for faculties and their alumni.
  • Student & Club Liaison: Coordinating and engaging with faculty-based student groups and alumni clubs to strengthen lifelong connections.
  • Reporting & Insights: Tracking and reporting on progress to maximise efficiency, utilising our workflow planning systems (Raiser’s Edge).

This is an 8-month, Fixed-term, full-time position (37.5 hours per week). The salary range for this role is $90,000 to $100,000, negotiable depending on skills and experience.

We are looking for a highly engaged, multifaceted professional driven to foster relationships with faculty members and enhance alumni engagement and community activity. Serving as a key contact and conduit between faculty representatives and our alumni, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing strategic initiatives, including events, mentorship programmes, and connections with student clubs.

You must be an excellent communicator with a natural flair for relationship management, acting as a primary point of contact for influential leaders and key operational managers. You will be comfortable navigating high-level meetings and presentations, managing event logistics, and possessing the technical aptitude required for data management. We are seeking an autonomous individual who consistently goes above and beyond to strengthen engagement and institutional relationships.

E rapua ana mātou | What we are seeking

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent demonstrated professional experience.
  • Five to seven years of experience in an environment requiring high-level service delivery. A strong background in marketing communications and event involvement is essential.
  • A proven ability to cultivate one-to-one relationships with key leaders and stakeholders. While not essential, experience within the tertiary sector or a large, complex organisation would be highly beneficial.
  • Advanced oral and written English communication skills and well-developed interpersonal abilities, underpinned by cultural sensitivity and awareness.
  • High level of computer literacy, specifically advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
