CERN is seeking an Applied Physicist on DAQ Software (EP-CMS-ID-2026-113-GRAP) to join the CMS Tracker team in Geneva. You will develop online and offline software, database interfaces, and web UI tooling to support the Tracker’s integration, checkout, commissioning, and calibration for the HL-LHC, contribute to the ShepHERD back-end electronics configuration and automated calibration, participate in hardware integration at CERN, and may contribute to firmware development while taking on team supervision duties. The ideal candidate has a solid silicon-detector background and experience with DAQ, test protocols, and readout chains, plus expert C++, Git/GitLab, CI, and some databases or web UI. As a highly motivated applied physicist with experience in advanced particle detectors for high-energy physics experiments, you will join the CERN CMS Tracker team to develop software and diagnostic tools spanning the integration, checkout, commissioning, and calibration chain of the Tracker detector for the High-Luminosity LHC.
In this role, you will contribute to online and offline software, databases, and user interfaces that support the reception testing of detector substructures, validation of large detector sections, and the commissioning and calibration of the final detector once installed at Point 5.
