As an Assistant Category Manager in the Dan Murphy’s Wine team you will partner with the broader category team and contribute to the execution of the category strategy, with a key focus on maximising the portfolio's commercial performance through a strong trade and customer plan.  

Work closely with a number of key internal and external stakeholders across the industry, from our store teams to our global supply partners. No one day is the same! 

You’ll build and manage supplier relationships end to end and will use your strong knowledge of the category and understanding of competitors, brands, consumer & shopper trends to create customer-centric promotional strategies to drive sustainable growth.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

• End to end promotional planning rhythm by partnering with relevant suppliers and internal teams to execute promotions that deliver upon strategic category objectives.
• Negotiate commercials with suppliers for promotions and marketing funding.
• Execute these promotions by providing exceptional support to our store teams in delivering world-class promotional execution and ensuring that issues are addressed and queries resolved in a timely manner.
• Utilise available data to regularly review performance with internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage sales and profit improvement through executing strategic category initiatives and promotional effectiveness.
• Prepare and brief major category campaigns, along with key supplier funded activities.
• Utilise analytical skills and understanding of customer insights to make informed decisions.

Qualifications

Now let’s talk about you: 

• 2-3+ Years experience in a relevant position, i.e. Buying, Category Assistant, Assistant Category Manager, Promotions Specialist
• Experience within Retail, FMCG, or the liquor industry is highly regarded, with the ability to navigate complex matrix organisations
• Proven experience in planning a strong, customer focused, promotional program to maximise the commercial performance
• A track record in using customer insights and data to make strategic and commercial business decisions
• Strong commercial acumen, including numerical and analytical skills, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong ability to negotiate and influence both internal & external stakeholders 
• Passion for and demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across all levels 
• Ability to work cross-functionality, under pressure, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• A customer-centric attitude and a passion for the liquor industry
