MacKillop Family Services is recruiting two full‑time Assistant House Supervisors for the Northern Residential Care Program in Preston, VIC, to lead a team of Residential Care Workers delivering safe, nurturing and therapeutic care for young people in OOHC. The role combines hands on leadership with day to day operations, supervising staff, strengthening connections with families and communities, and ensuring care plans, reporting and compliance are effectively managed while fostering an inclusive, culturally safe environment. Requirements include a relevant Bachelor with four mandatory competencies or a Diploma with substantial experience plus those competencies, demonstrated supervisory and behavioural management skills, and experience in a therapeutic residential setting. You must hold a valid driver’s licence and Working with Children Check and be willing to obtain an NDIS Worker Check and MARAM training. MacKillop’s Out of Home Care (OOHC) programs provide residential care, home based care, lead tenant and case management support for young people with high and complex needs, as well as a therapeutically oriented program for young people in protective placements.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As an Assistant House Supervisor, you'll play a key role in leading a team of Residential Care Workers to provide safe, nurturing, and therapeutic care for young people in our Out of Home Care (OOHC) program. You'll support the day-to-day operations of the home, helping create an environment where young people feel valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Reporting to the Residential Care Coordinator, this is a rewarding opportunity to combine hands-on leadership with meaningful work that helps young people build resilience, independence, and a sense of belonging.

We are currently recruiting 2x Full-time opportunity based in Preston, VIC within our Northern Residential Care Program. The position reports to the Northern Residential Coordinator.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Residential Coordinator, your duties will include but are not limited to:

• Inspire & Support Your Team - Provide leadership, coaching, and supervision to build a high-performing, therapeutic care team.
• Strengthen Connections - Foster meaningful relationships with families, communities, and key stakeholders to support each young person's journey.
• Drive Quality & Compliance - Ensure care plans, reporting, policies, budgets, and operational requirements are effectively managed.
• Promote Culture, Safety & Growth - Create an inclusive, culturally safe environment while supporting continuous improvement, workplace safety, and best-practice care.

 KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Relevant Bachelor Degree with experience including four (4) additional mandatory competencies (top up units); or Relevant Diploma with substantial experience including four (4) additional mandatory competencies (top up units). 
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, lead and support a team of residential care workers.
• Proven skills and experience in development of behavioural management programs for children and adolescents with challenging behaviours.
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the residential care field, particularly within a therapeutic environment.
• Ability to participate collaboratively and constructively within teams of peers, staff and other stakeholders, as well as initiative and effective personal judgement when working alone.
