About the Team

Within this group, KPMG’s China Business Practice plays a pivotal role in advising clients engaging with China across inbound and outbound investment, operations, and structuring. Working closely with our Business & Tax Advisory team and global China network, we support private businesses, family groups, foreign-invested enterprises and listed companies to operate efficiently and compliantly across borders.

Your opportunity

As an Assistant Manager, you will work closely with senior leaders and clients to deliver high-quality tax and business advisory services to China-connected businesses. You will take ownership of engagements, support client relationships, and contribute to the growth and success of the China Practice while developing your leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of tax and business advisory engagements for China-connected clients
  • Provide practical advice on cross-border tax, business structuring, and international operations
  • Prepare and review tax compliance and reporting obligations, ensuring accuracy and quality
  • Support the management of client relationships and act as a key point of contact for client queries
  • Assist with engagement planning, budgeting, resource management and project coordination
  • Collaborate with specialists across KPMG Australia, China and the global network to deliver integrated client solutions
  • Identify opportunities to provide additional services and support business development activities
  • Coach and support Consultants and Graduate team members, providing technical guidance and feedback
  • Monitor engagement progress to ensure deadlines, budgets and client expectations are met
  • Stay informed of China-related tax and regulatory developments and assist in translating these into client solutions

How Are You Extraordinary?

  • Experience working with China-connected clients or cross-border engagements
  • Fluency in Mandarin (spoken and/or written) is highly regarded
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and practical manner

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

  • Completed CA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification (or nearing completion)
