Job Overview

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Cincinnati is excited to welcome 3 (three) enthusiastic clinician–educators to join our growing faculty as we expand to an additional clinical site. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop a fulfilling academic career in a department known for its rich legacy, strong educational mission, and supportive culture.  We are seeking emergency physicians committed to bedside teaching and mentorship, who enjoy working closely with residents and students within a supportive academic culture in the delivery of high-quality, equitable emergency care. Faculty interests may include, but are not limited to, education, EMS, operations, quality improvement, ultrasound, or research.

Essential Functions

  • Collaboration with hospital operations teams to optimize throughput, capacity management, and ED flow.
  • Mentorship of early-career faculty and trainees in academic scholarship, leadership development, and career advancement.
  • Dissemination of knowledge through peer-reviewed publications, grant activity, and national presentations.
  • Participation in hospital committees, task forces, and systemwide initiatives that shape emergency and acute care delivery.
  • Contributions to strategic planning, program development, and philanthropic efforts to advance the mission of the department and the College of Medicine.

 

The ideal candidates include enthusiastic clinician–educators seeking a supportive academic environment with structured mentorship, opportunities for teaching, professional growth, and a clear path for career development.

 

 

Minimum Requirements

  • MD/DO.
  • Ohio Medical License.
  • DEA license.
  • Completion of a four (4) year Emergency Medicine Residency -Or- Completion of a 3-year emergency medicine training program with at least one year of service in an academic setting or fellowship training.

 

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Demonstrated interest and accomplishment in emergency medicine clinical patient care.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, chief residency training or similar accomplishments during residency training.
  • Demonstration of interest and accomplishment in bedside clinical teaching of medical students and residents (emergency medicine as well as other clinical services).
  • Academic productivity such as original research papers, abstracts, and chapters.
