Advice for applicants

Show in your resume that you’re actively pursuing the CFA and that you expect to complete within a year of hire; name the exact designation level you’re pursuing and your target timeline to make your progress tangible. You’ll want to connect your degree background and any hands-on work with financial modeling and investment analysis to the Product Review function, so place a concise example front and center in your experience section.

When you describe must-have skills, tie them to real-world outcomes: how you’ve used economic concepts, statistical methods, or data tools to support decisions. If you’ve prepared reports or presented analyses to colleagues or clients, briefly recount the impact and the stakeholders you engaged. A short case-style example showing how you would approach a product decision can help demonstrate fit for the role.

For interviews, be ready to discuss how you would locate and synthesize information from diverse sources to inform an investment decision, and how you would present preliminary findings to a team. Practice a clear, structured explanation of a past analysis, including the data you used and the recommendation you offered. You should also be prepared to talk about Edward Jones’ investment philosophy and how Product Review contributes to wealth management for clients.

A good question to ask: how does the Product Review team collaborate with branches and other investment teams to balance client needs with the firm’s product strategy, and what would a successful first 90 days look like in this role?
