Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Facade Engineer to join our Facades and Sustainability team in New Zealand. This opportunity is open to any location across the North and South Island. In this role, you will lead the delivery of facade projects and focus on the management of client relationships, new and existing, to support growth of the facades business across New Zealand. 

You will also be responsible for:

  • Lead design engineering for façades for technically complex projects, including undertaking the provision of concept design, peer review and checking services to maintain high standards
  • Oversee engineering computations and structural façade analysis, advice and reporting
  • Writing and reviewing specifications and schedules to inform and respond to site and construction related queries
  • Providing expert façade design advice to internal stakeholders, project managers and clients
  • Being accountable for all façade documentation including calculations, drawings and specifications
  • Reviewing contractor submissions; shop drawings and calculations
  • Project management and administration, including management of project financials, project personnel and reporting to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Lead the preparation of tender submissions and actively contribute to business development activities aligned with the broader ANZ service line strategy 
  • Attending inspections during construction, installation and fabrication as required
  • Building and maintaining relationships with clients on projects and develop contacts within the façade industry

Qualifications

Ideally, you will have 10+ years’ experience in a similar role within a consultant environment and are familiar with the relevant local codes and standards. In addition to this, you will also have:

  • Full right to work and live in New Zealand
  • Tertiary qualified in Engineering (Civil/Structures), Architectural Engineering or similar
  • CPEng status highly desired
  • Proven experience in façade design engineering within a façade consultancy or façade contractor with demonstrated local experience in Zealand
  • Demonstrated expertise in façade system design with the ability to review drawing submissions
  • Proficiency in relevant façade & structural finite element software e.g. Strand7
  • Experience in producing and reviewing calculations for various façade elements and writing documentation for all stages of project lifecycle
  • Proven ability to manage delivery of multiple projects
  • Strong client management skills, ability to influence and build business
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and  organisational skills
  • Desire to impart knowledge by way of mentoring junior facade engineers
