KPMG New Zealand is seeking an Associate or Senior Associate to join the Transaction Services team, primarily based in Auckland with opportunities to work across Wellington and Christchurch as part of a collaborative Deal Advisory function focused on financial due diligence for acquisitions, mergers and divestments. The role requires a CA qualification or progress toward it, plus relevant experience in financial due diligence or external audit, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to produce clear, well written reports while handling multiple projects at pace. Deal Advisory is a multi-disciplinary team covering a range of services including Restructuring and Insolvency, Transaction Services, Valuations, Modelling, Infrastructure Advisory and Mergers and Acquisitions.

The opportunity:

  • Our Transaction Services team brings deep experience in financial due diligence and related advisory services, helping clients assess, plan and manage acquisitions, mergers and divestments. This aligns with the broader Deal Advisory purpose, where Analysts and Senior Analysts support a range of services based on client needs and project demands.
  • We’re looking for motivated, talented individuals who want to accelerate their skills across a diverse range of industries.
  • This role is primarily based in Auckland, but as part of a national Advisory team working collaboratively across offices, we also welcome applications from Wellington and Christchurch candidates.

Day to day you will:

  • Produce high quality and accurate analysis reports for client deliverables.
  • Solve problems, identify core issues, investigate and formulate solutions to client issues.
  • Be comfortable working at pace managing multiple projects at once whilst still maintaining a high attention to detail.
  • Apply an awareness and understanding of the general business and economic environments in undertaking engagements.
  • Exceed our clients expectations by delivering exceptional service.
  • Assist the team in identifying and pursuing business opportunities in line with our strategy.

About you:

  • Have prior relevant professional experience in financial due diligence or external audit.
  • Hold or are working towards a CA qualification or a similar finance/business-related qualification.
  • Have excellent attention to detail and the ability to write impactful, well-considered reports.
  • Passionate about achieving positive results and adding value for clients.
  • Ability to communicate solutions to complex issues in a simple, accessible way.
  • Have an appetite to learn new skills and grow in an innovative and supportive environment.
  • Thrive on developing solutions to strategic, commercial and financial issues across a wide range of sectors.
