OceanaGold is seeking an experienced Automotive Mechanic to join the Mobile Maintenance team in Waihi, responsible for preventative maintenance and repairs on a Toyota 4x4 fleet in an underground mining environment. Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll work with mining and maintenance colleagues to maximise equipment availability while following site procedures, legislation and safety standards. Essential qualifications include an Automotive Trade Qualification, a full NZ Driver Licence with manual capability, and strong diagnostic and fault finding skills; mining or Toyota 4x4 experience is highly desirable. You will enjoy a 7 on 7 off 12 hour roster, a residential role, and a solid benefits package. Job Description

We seek an experienced Automotive Mechanic who is confident in their abilities to work within our Mobile Maintenance Department to conduct quality and timely preventative maintenance and repairs, including diagnosis and troubleshooting, on our large fleet of Toyota Landcruiser and Hilux light vehicles. 

Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor you will work with both mining and maintenance personnel to ensure equipment availability is optimised aligning with full compliance with site procedures, legislative requirements, and best practice safety standards to achieve production and safety targets.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Automotive Trade Qualification. 
  • Full New Zealand Driver Licence - Ability to drive manual vehicles is essential.
  • Excellent diagnostic, fault finding, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance skills. 
  • Mining industry and/or Toyota four-wheel drive experience is (highly desirable). 
  • Strong commitment to safety.
