Priory Hospital Solihull is a specialist facility for adults with complex mental health needs, and it accepts referrals from across the UK, though most come from local trusts within the West Midlands. The hospital sits in a peaceful setting with easy access to public transport and major routes, including the M6 and M42 motorways, with four train stations located within five miles.

If you’re a Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse with six to twelve months post-registration experience, you hold an active NMC registration and have completed a preceptorship programme, this bank role could be a good fit. The team there focuses on compassionate care and aims to create a positive experience for residents and staff alike.

Care you’ll deliver on the unit

You’ll be part of a dedicated, supportive team that helps run the service smoothly, supports with care requirements, keeps spaces well looked after, and contributes to a positive environment for everyone who lives and works there.

In day-to-day practice you’ll deliver prescribed care to a defined group within an agreed framework, work with the patient and their carer or family to plan and deliver nursing care that respects patient choices, and act as the patient’s named nurse. You’ll observe and engage with patients to assess their needs and track progress, monitor and review nursing care plans, and respond to changes in a patient’s condition or needs. You’ll also handle suggestions and complaints from patients and families in a proactive, constructive way.

Tips for your application

Lead your resume with your RMN qualification and your six to twelve months of post-registration experience, then note your active NMC registration and your completed preceptorship.

In your application, demonstrate how you meet the essential requirements by detailing your NMC status, your preceptorship, and a concrete example of acting as the named nurse and delivering care within an agreed framework.

Be prepared in interviews to discuss how you observe and engage with patients, how you assess needs and respond to changes in condition, and how you’ve handled feedback or complaints from families or carers.

Ask a thoughtful question about how the bank RMN role integrates with the unit’s care model and what success looks like in the first few months.
