About the Role:
The incumbent will be responsible for preparing and cutting meat products according to established standards, ensuring quality, freshness, and customer satisfaction. The incumbent should have expertise in meat cutting techniques, knowledge of various cuts, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety, follow food safety guidelines, and create an exceptional in-store experience for customers with implementing different sales techniques and cross selling. The incumbent is also responsible for weighing meat, wrapping it, labelling it and putting it out for display.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for cutting, trimming, and preparing various cuts of meat according to customer preferences and specifications, ensuring accuracy in portion control and adherence to quality standards.
Displaying meat products in an appealing and organized manner to attract customers, while monitoring and rotating stock to maintain freshness.
Operate machinery such as slicers, grinders, and band saws safely, and support promotional activities and seasonal meat displays.
Quality control is paramount, incumbent inspects meat products for quality, freshness, and proper labeling, dispose of expired or spoiled products following established procedures, and follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines and store procedures.
Providing excellent customer service is essential, as the incumbent assists customers in selecting meat products, provides information on cuts, cooking methods, and recommendations, and fulfills customer orders promptly and accurately.
Wrap, weigh, label and price cuts of meat, promote add on sales and maintain an awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the butchery area is crucial for sanitation and safety purposes, and the incumbent must follow safety protocols and guidelines for the proper handling of knives and equipment.
Responsible for monitoring and managing meat inventory levels, reporting shortages or excess inventory to the relevant personnel to ensure efficient inventory management, and receive, inspect, and properly store meat deliveries following temperature and storage requirements.
Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned by management as necessary to support business needs.
Required skills & Qualifications:
At least 1 - 2 years of experience in Butchery in a supermarket/hypermarket setting.
Able to work in a +/- cold degree temperature.
Basic knowledge of food safety & hygiene standards.
High school diploma or technical qualification.
Good communication skills.
