It’s a Band 5 position with Alexandre Hébert serving as the hiring manager and INES MALTEZ as the recruiter. The posting notes an education level of Bac + 2 and 3 to 5 years of professional buying experience.

The company is a global technology leader known for its connectivity and sensing solutions, with a broad footprint across about 130 countries and a workforce of more than 90,000 people. In Hastings, you’d join a team focused on sourcing materials, components and services while partnering with manufacturing and engineering to keep inventory aligned with plan, monitor cost, schedule and scope of subcontracts, and push for best value. This opportunity suits someone who wants to contribute to supplier reliability and cost-saving efforts in a collaborative, process-driven environment.

If you’re the kind of professional who enjoys turning supplier relationships into reliable supply chains, this Buyer position could fit you. It’s a practical, hands-on role for someone who cares about accuracy, timelines and clear communication, and who wants to see the impact of well-run procurement on production lines and project outcomes.

Day-to-day duties that keep the supply chain moving

In this role you’ll purchase trade commodities related to electronics, cables, ceramics and consumables, keeping the orderbook up to date on a daily and weekly cadence and flagging any delays. You’ll ensure suppliers deliver on time by coordinating follow-ups and escalation when needed, raise new purchase orders and respond to pricing inquiries, and process order confirmations to lock in terms. You’ll review late lines, take action, and loop in the relevant planner when required, all while managing supplier relationships to maintain a steady flow of materials. Master data for responsible items will be kept current, including minimum order quantities, price breaks and safety stocks, and you’ll monitor KPIs like on-time delivery and purchase order confirmations, reporting on performance and resolving blocked invoices or PO amendments as they arise. When exceptions occur in MRP, you’ll drive the resolution with the appropriate teammates to keep production on track.

A solid foundation to succeed in this role

  • Prior experience in a buying or procurement role, with a track record of working with suppliers
  • Proficiency with SAP and MRP systems, plus strong IT skills; familiarity with Excel is a plus
  • Education at GCSE level and the ability to manage a busy workload with clear prioritisation
  • Proactive mindset, keen attention to detail and the ability to work with little supervision
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities, plus solid communication skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities that help you navigate data and supplier issues
  • 3 to 5 years in a purchasing role
  • Experience with Excel would be advantageous

Advice for applicants

Lead your resume with your 3 to 5 years of buying experience and your SAP/MRP capabilities, especially if you’ve worked with electronics, cables, ceramics or related consumables.

Show how you’ve proven your must-have skills by sharing concrete examples of managing orderbooks, delivering on-time supplier performance, handling master data, and driving KPI results like on-time delivery and PO confirmation. If you’ve escalated issues to a supervisor or sourcing analyst, describe what you did and the outcome.

Prepare for interviews by outlining specific instances where you prioritised multiple demands and expedited supplier turnarounds, and highlight how you built strong supplier relationships and collaborated with planners to resolve problems.

When you’re in the interview, ask about the KPI targets for on-time delivery and PO confirmations, and inquire about the SAP/MRP tools used by the team. You could also ask about opportunities to grow into procurement analytics or broader sourcing responsibilities within the unit.
