A few practical tips for your application

Lead your resume with your hands-on inspection experience and the measurement tools you know how to operate, plus any documented results you’ve produced in traceable systems. Emphasise your ability to interpret drawings to BS308 and your proficiency with MS Office when you summarize your technical background.

Show off how you prove you have the must-haves by citing concrete examples: how you used measurement techniques on real parts, how you documented test outcomes, and how you kept calibration and controlled documents organized for audits or reviews.

Prepare for interviews with stories about times you addressed inspection issues or questions with colleagues from other parts of the business, and how you stayed compliant with Health and Safety regulations. Be ready to discuss how you contributed to KPI targets and how you might support other Quality Department activities when needed.

Ask a smart question about the role’s KPI framework and how vendor non-conformances are tracked and resolved, for example: what does the process look like for escalating a recurring issue and how is success measured across the incoming inspection function?
