The Counter Staff Coordinator reports to the Supervisor and Manager of the Catering department. The incumbent will be responsible to lead and plan operational activities associated with counter staff in line with Black Wolf Bistro procedures and policies. This position will oversee daily operations and monitor counter staff while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all products are displayed correctly and the food labelling follows the Canadian Consumer Packaging and Labeling Act
  • Responsible of ordering of supplies and monitor inventory levels and coordinate restocking to minimize outages and maximize sales opportunities
  • Evaluate sales data, generate reports, and update records to monitor product performance and sales trends, offering insight for inventory management decisions
  • Monitors department emails, ensuring that supply orders or messages are answered promptly
  • Take customers' orders
  • Receive payment for food purchased
  • Ensures that the counter staff maintains cleanliness and organization of the counter, display cases, and dining area
  • Maintain equipment, send appropriate notifications when repairs are needed through the internal reporting system
  • Portion, assemble, and wrap food or place it directly on plates for service to patrons, and package take-out food
  • Use equipment to prepare hot beverages such as coffee and tea specialties
  • Ensure daily meal production follows daily specifications and quantities, and reduces food waste
  • Conduct all interactions in a positive, customer-service-focused approach when helping customers and/or communicating with fellow team members
  • Provide encouragement and guidance to fellow staff members

Qualifications/Conditions of Employment

  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract
  • Three years of experience in the hospitality industry, knowledge of the foodservice operations or a similar combination of experience or education
  • Food Safe Level 1 certificate an asset
  • Must be able to obtain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)
  • Must be physically fit (able to bend, kneel, crawl, stoop, climb, and lift up to 70 pounds repetitively)
  • Previous leadership experience an asset
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or show proof of right to work in Canada
