$70,000 - $80,000 USD yearly

Franklin Logistics, a local, family-owned business with roots dating back to 1985, is looking for a Class A van driver to join the Chambersburg team. This is a full-time, onsite role based in Chambersburg, PA, with a local, home-daily schedule and a first shift that keeps you on the road and back home each night. The company operates across six local locations and focuses on dependable service, safety, and steady growth, making it a good fit for drivers who value consistency and a straightforward, predictable routine.

As a driver for Franklin Logistics, you’ll become part of a team that takes pride in handling customer challenges with care and delivering solid results. The role emphasizes independence on the road, with a single-trailer setup and no hazmat or tanker loads, so you can focus on safe driving and reliable deliveries while keeping to a steady weekly cadence.

A day in the life on local lanes

Your day starts with a pre-trip check to ensure the tractor and trailer are ready for duty, followed by safe, compliant transport of large freight between warehouses, distribution centers, customers, and vendor locations. You’ll stay in touch with dispatch to report delivery status, route changes, delays, or any mechanical issues, and you’ll perform trailer coupling and uncoupling as needed, securing loads before departure and verifying freight is properly loaded by warehouse crews. Documentation matters here, so you’ll keep accurate driver logs, inspection reports, and shipping records in line with FMCSA and DOT rules, while following all company policies for safety and operations. Loading and unloading aren’t part of the driver’s duties, as warehouse teams handle freight in those steps.

The job is structured for solo driving, so you’ll be on the road with minimal interference and no-touch freight, focusing on delivering reliably and on time. You’ll operate under a schedule that values steady hours and safety, ensuring you’re meeting regulatory requirements and company standards throughout each shift.

What you bring to the wheel

  • Holding a valid Class A commercial driver’s license
  • Ability to drive tractor-trailers in various weather and traffic conditions
  • Strong emphasis on safety, precise paperwork, and effective time management
  • Capability to perform vehicle inspections and connect or disconnect trailers
  • Experience or familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) is a plus
  • Knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and Hours of Service rules is preferred
  • Local, home-daily driving experience is welcome and considered a bonus
  • Comfort with solo-route work and no-touch freight

Pay, perks and practical details

The position pays between 70,000.00 USD and 80,000.00 USD per year, with weekly pay in the range of $1,400 to $1,600 based on hourly wages. It’s an hourly job with overtime kicking in after 40 hours, so hard work can translate into meaningful extra earnings. The schedule runs Monday through Friday, and you’ll be home every night. You’ll be backed by new, safe, and reliable equipment, and you’ll operate solo on your routes with no loading or unloading expected from you, since that work is handled by warehouse personnel.

Franklin Logistics provides paid on-the-job training, a safe and respectful workplace, and opportunities for advancement within the company. Full-time employees gain access to paid holidays and vacation time after 60 days, along with paid time off for their birthday, health, dental, and vision coverage, company-paid life insurance, and 401(k) profit sharing after one year of employment. The company is an equal-opportunity employer and complies with applicable nondiscrimination laws; accommodations are available for applicants who need them during the application process at (717) 262-2904, and questions about the transportation role can be directed to the Transportation Department at 717-262-2937 or 717-262-2914.

Advice for applicants

Lead your resume with your Class A CDL and any recent local-driving experience, especially if you’ve worked a home-daily route or handled short-haul schedules. If you’ve logged 50–60 hours a week in past roles, mention that up front and describe how you stayed compliant and safe through busy weeks.

To prove the must-have skills, give concrete examples of recent pre-trip inspections and trailerings you completed, noting any issues you found and how you resolved them before departure. If you’ve worked with ELDs, share the systems you’ve used and how you ensured logs were accurate and up-to-date for FMCSA compliance.

Prepare to discuss how you handle dispatch communications, route changes, delays, and mechanical issues, including a specific scenario and how you would keep customers informed while maintaining schedule integrity. Highlight that you don’t perform loading or unloading, and explain how you coordinate with warehouse teams to verify freight was loaded properly and documentation matched.

Ask a smart question about growth: what paths exist for advancement after the initial period, and what support the company offers to drivers aiming for higher responsibilities. You might also ask about what a typical first-week look like on the local routes and how overtime is structured week to week.
