Change Management Lead- Commissioning/ Pre-Operations
EDFEDF is recruiting for a Change Management Lead to steer configuration control within the Commissioning/Pre-Operations group for the Hinkley Point C commissioning programme. The role is full-time and onsite in Bridgwater, ENG, offering a starting salary of £67,000 per annum with the potential for an annual bonus. The successful candidate will work with senior leaders, technical specialists and regulators to influence how design changes are governed and implemented as commissioning activities scale up, contributing to EDF’s broader transition to a lower-carbon future.
The opportunity is geared toward someone who thrives in a regulated engineering environment and enjoys cross‑functional collaboration. If you want to influence critical commissioning decisions on a major nuclear project and play a part in shaping configuration management, this position will appeal to you.
Steering change through the commissioning phase
You’ll oversee the day-to-day delivery of commissioning and Pre-Operations design change activities and the associated configuration management processes, ensuring work stays aligned with project goals. You’ll represent the Commissioning/Pre-Operations function at key design change forums and help ensure clear, consistent communication across the project. You’ll contribute to developing and continually improving configuration management strategies and guidance, while engaging senior stakeholders and delivering reporting that supports accountability and delivery. When required, you’ll support the Commissioning Manager and act as a deputy across leadership, governance and stakeholder activities.
The essentials you’ll bring
- Managing technical design changes within large engineering, infrastructure, energy or nuclear projects
- Coordinating engineering change governance, review and approval activities
- Assessing engineering impacts, technical risks and implementation requirements arising from design changes
- Working in highly regulated engineering environments with a strong emphasis on safety, compliance and quality
- Using engineering knowledge to support configuration management and commissioning activities throughout project delivery
Compensation and the perks on offer
Alongside the £67,000 starting salary per year and the potential for an annual bonus, EDF provides a market-leading pension scheme and a package of customizable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers and experience days. The role is based on-site in Bridgwater, offering full-time hours within a major nuclear commissioning programme. EDF emphasises a culture where success is personal and supports a career path that reflects individual goals, while committing to inclusivity and adjusting processes for applicants who require adjustments as part of the application process.
Tips for getting this role
Put your strongest, must-have experiences up front on your CV, especially any track record of managing design changes in large energy, infrastructure or nuclear projects and your involvement with governance and approvals. Show concrete projects where you led or coordinated change governance and reviews, not just planning.
Back up your claims with real examples that illustrate how you assess the impacts, risks and practical needs that come with design changes. Describe the method you used to evaluate technical implications and how you translated them into actionable steps for delivery teams.
Be ready to talk about working in highly regulated environments that prioritise safety, compliance and quality. Highlight any interfaces with regulators and how you maintained clear, accountable reporting to senior stakeholders and the commissioning leadership team.
Come with a thoughtful question you’d want the team to answer, such as how the configuration management strategy for Hinkley Point C is evolving, what the main governance challenges are at design-change forums, or what the deputy role would be expected to cover in leadership and governance during critical milestones.
