What A Client Accountant Does At Maples Group
You will support the Fiduciary department by taking on routine accounting mandates and managing a portfolio of clients under the guidance of Vice Presidents and the Senior Vice President. Day to day, you’ll coordinate with asset managers, trustees, collateral administrators and banks to gather the information needed for timely reporting and to meet client needs. You’ll also work with external advisers such as tax professionals, auditors and authorities, ensuring that work stays compliant with evolving local rules and accounting guidelines.
The role involves handling SPVs, keeping the books, preparing management accounts and compiling financial statements in line with Dutch GAAP and/or IFRS, all on time and under the terms of engagement. You’ll prepare audit tails and support the audit process, while developing strong working relationships with clients and responding promptly to requests. A steady hand on reviewing client payments and monitoring receivables helps maintain smooth day-to-day operations, and you’ll assist with transaction monitoring and bank administration as needed, as well as annual compliance reviews and updating client information.
Candidate Profile For This Client Accountant Role
- 2-4 years of previous accounting experience, ideally in a Trust/Fiduciary company or financial services company
- Bachelor or Masters Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or equivalent
- High ethical standards and autonomy; you want to succeed, grow, be challenged and challenge others
- Strong communication skills and a proven ability to work well in a team
- Knowledge of Dutch GAAP and/or IFRS
- Fluent English
- Willing to learn
- Dutch language skills would be an advantage
