Maples Group, a global leader in financial services trusted by hedge fund managers, private equity firms and international corporations, is seeking a Client Billing Specialist – Global Entity Services to join its Montreal team. This full-time, onsite role sits in downtown Montreal and is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with data, billing cycles and client conversations. The company counts about 2,500 colleagues worldwide and combines financial and legal expertise to deliver award-winning services for a global client base.

The Montreal office is part of a culture that prizes collaboration and continuous learning, hosting more than 300 colleagues from 50 countries. Maples Group has repeatedly been recognised as a top employer in Montreal, and the Global Entity Services group focuses on accurate data handling and timely billing for diverse client portfolios. If you value a global work community and a role where your data work moves real client outcomes, this opportunity could suit you.

If you take pride in precise data and a client-focused mindset, you may find this role a natural fit.

Days in the Montreal billing hub

On a typical day you’ll keep client data precise and aligned with service agreements and internal protocols, using a range of tools to spot exceptions and address issues as they come up. You’ll also manage the billing and revenue data for multiple client portfolios, staying in touch with clients to resolve questions about invoices and ensuring the flow from data entry to billing stays smooth.

This work sits at the intersection of accuracy, process discipline and clear communication, so you’ll often balance attention to detail with the need to move things forward in a timely way. The role is part of a global entity services team, which means you’ll join a broader network of colleagues who share a focus on reliable data and consistent client service.

What you’ll need to succeed

Must-have requirements include a blend of learning mindset, organization and communication. Here’s how Maples Group frames the essentials:

  • A commitment to continually learning IT platforms and additional software skills
  • An organized, detail-driven approach with solid critical thinking and the ability to manage several tasks in a fast-paced setting
  • An inherent drive for excellence, pride in efficient, precise work, and a habit of suggesting improvements to systems and processes
  • A self-starter who works well in a team and stays productive under deadlines
  • A college diploma or equivalent, preferably with a business or legal concentration, and 1-2 years’ experience in a professional services environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • English language fluency

Nice-to-haves include a bit more depth beyond the basics:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is preferred

Benefits, schedule and practical details

Depending on location, the Montreal team can access a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental and optical coverage, competitive vacation allowances, educational assistance and professional development programmes, a savings or pension plan, life and travel insurance, a global mental wellness programme, and access to sports clubs and social events. The Montreal office sits within a diverse, culturally rich environment with colleagues from many backgrounds, all collaborating to deliver client-focused solutions.

Disclaimer: Maples Group conducts background screening as part of the hiring process. In most jurisdictions, conditional offers are contingent on criminal records checks, and past offenses do not automatically disqualify a candidate; decision-making is handled on a case-by-case basis with input from the role and circumstances involved.

Tips to strengthen your application

Craft your resume with the role in mind by leading with your billing and data-handling work, especially any experience that involved keeping data accurate to contract terms and servicing client inquiries. If you have 1-2 years in a professional services environment, feature it up front and connect it to how you learned to manage multiple tasks without dropping the ball.

When you describe your must-have skills, back them up with concrete examples: show how you maintained data integrity across complex service agreements, the specific tools you used to identify and fix anomalies, and a time you improved a process or system to speed up billing cycles.

Be ready in interviews to talk about how you handle deadlines and pressure, including a quick story about balancing client requests with data accuracy. You should also be prepared to explain how you learn new IT platforms and what steps you take to stay current with software and reporting tools.

End with a smart question that shows you’re thinking about the role long-term: ask which IT platforms and billing tools the team currently uses and how success is measured for this position within the Global Entity Services group.
