Position Overview

The incumbent in this position is responsible for all receptionist, communication and clerical functions on the nursing unit.

  • Demonstrate ability to provide continuous quality services.
  • Adheres to all safety and health regulations and demonstrates safe work practices.
  • Accept and work within the framework of the Hospital's philosophy, objectives and policies.
  • Facilitate communication both written and verbal intra and interdepartmentally.
  • Maintain records and reports.
  • Transcribe physician orders as required.
  • Facilitate good public relations intra and interdepartmentally.
  • Maintain recording and audit systems designated by the Program Manager.
  • Order supplies as required or requested.
  • Initiate requisitions as necessary or as requested.
  • Temporarily relieves, replaces or assists other Communication Clerks as necessary.
  • Operate communication equipment in the area.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with and within the unit through interaction with staff, physicians, patients, visitors, etc.
  • Meet own learning needs through self-improvement individual study, in-services and staff meetings.

Experience

  • Previous communication clerk experience required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Completion of Grade 12.
  • Completion of Communication Clerk course.
  • Health Records Technician course preferred.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology required.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
