Brisbane City Council is seeking a Community Preparedness and Resilience Officer to support the City Resilience Disaster Preparedness and Education team. This on-site, temporary full-time role at Brisbane Square blends proactive disaster preparedness work with real time response in the Local Disaster Coordination Centre during events. With a Band 6 salary and a contract through August 2027, you will need strong event management skills, the ability to present to communities often after hours, and robust stakeholder relationships plus a solid understanding of disaster management operations. The Role
Then we have the role for you. This position provides support to the City Resilience Disaster Preparedness and Education team by collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders, to assist in the development and delivery of community engagement and education strategies and initiatives that enhance city-wide disaster preparedness and foster resilience among Brisbane residents and communities.
It is a role of two facets, you are preparing, educating and engaging when there aren’t disaster events and when mother nature strikes you are working in Council's Local Disaster Coordination Centre to collaboratively respond to disasters.

This role requires active participation in the City Resilience Branch Duty Officer roster and undergo essential training. This includes an on-call roster, reasonable after-hours activities and overtime when required by business needs and/or disaster events.
