Construction Superintendent - Mech/Piping
WorleyWorley, a global player in energy, chemicals and resources, is sourcing a Construction Superintendent for the Mech/Piping discipline to join its Abu Dhabi team. This is a full-time, on-site role that sits under the Senior Project Control Specialist and centers on steering mechanical and piping construction activities on a major oil & gas or petrochemical program. The requisition code ABU02EA anchors the posting, and Worley emphasizes a values-driven, inclusive culture with opportunities to work through FEED and EPC phases on large assets. If you’re hands-on, safety-minded and relish leading a talented on-site team, this could be a strong fit.
In this position you’ll help translate engineering intent into on-site reality. You’ll champion safety, oversee the contractor’s mechanical (piping) deliverables to ensure they meet the PDPs and licensors’ design requirements, and assess calculations, specifications and plans with a critical eye. You’ll be part of a broad technical audience, joining Owner, Licensor and Contractor discussions, plus Vendors, to keep design reviews, 3D model sessions, constructability, SIL, EIA and HAZOP/HAZID activities moving forward. The role requires coordinating the technical guidance across disciplines, reviewing vendor design documents, and supervising the on-site execution of piping and mechanical work to align with project standards and codes.
Day-to-day leadership in the piping and mechanical build
On a daily basis you’ll lead the project safety culture while supervising the review and approval process for Contractor deliverables across equipment design, system design, material testing, specifications and design calculations. You’ll also handle material requisitions and data packages from vendors, ensuring everything aligns with Owner and project requirements and is fit for purpose before formal acceptance.
You’ll attend and contribute to technical meetings with Owner, Licensor, Contractor and Vendors, and you’ll join the Contractor’s key sessions such as Design Review Meetings, 3D Model Reviews, Constructability, SIL, EIA, HAZOP and HAZID workshops. Your influence will extend to ensuring the EPC Contractor’s Mechanical (Piping) engineering design activities integrate properly with other disciplines and with the overall design intent, while you validate that the work remains compliant with codes, standards and the project’s PDPs.
Beyond oversight, you’ll guide the development and analysis of design options and business models to optimize the piping system and facility layout. You’ll help shape new specifications and refresh existing ones in line with Owner requirements, coordinate involvement from other engineers during reviews and workshops, and provide the technical direction needed to keep vendor and subcontractor inputs aligned with project goals.
As a manager on site, you’ll supervise a team of specialists, senior engineers and engineers, ensuring the quality and reliability of design reviews and the timely progression of work. You’ll coordinate engineering participation in variant design studies and ensure the Owner’s expectations are reflected in the contractor’s outputs, while balancing risk and cost considerations in the pursuit of design optimization.
What you must bring to the site

- ADNOC and offshore project experience is required
- Experience in FEED and EPC phases is required
- At least five years in a similar position on major Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects, managing a team
- Experience in the GCC region is preferred
- PMC experience is preferable
- Experience coordinating with vendors and subcontractors on design deliverables and approvals
Where you’ll fit in and what it looks like on the ground
The role sits in Worley’s Abu Dhabi operation as a full-time, on-site position. It is classified at the management level of manager and reports to the Senior Project Control Specialist, with the primary location identified as ARE-AD-Abu Dhabi City. Advice for applicants
Lead with your most relevant on-site leadership experience in piping and mechanical work on large O&G or petrochemical projects, and highlight any time you’ve managed a team of specialists, senior engineers and engineers. Put ADNOC and offshore project involvement up front, and call out FEED and EPC exposure, as well as any PMC work if you have it.
When you describe your must-have skills, give concrete examples. Talk about times you reviewed and approved contractor deliverables such as equipment designs, system designs, material tests, specifications and calculations, and how you managed vendor data and material requisitions to align with PDPs and Licensor expectations.
Expect interviews to dive into your experience with design reviews, HAZOP/HAZID, SIL, EIA, 3D model sessions, constructability, and owner–licensor–contractor coordination. Be ready to discuss how you’ve balanced design intent with constructability and how you’ve guided multiple engineering disciplines toward a shared solution, including your approach to design optimization and technical guidance for new specifications.
Think of a thoughtful question to ask at the end that fits this project. For example, you could ask how Worley coordinates piping design optimization with the owner and licensor requirements on this program, or what the current piping design challenges are and how the on-site Superintendent collaborates with the Senior Project Control Specialist to address them.
