What are some day-to-day tasks the role will be responsible for?
Delivering appropriate legal support and advice to BNZ in relation to:
Customer-facing products, services and communications (including simplification and digitalisation).
Policies, procedures and effective governance.
Compliance with, and the impact and implementation of, law and regulation.
What is the team culture and environment like?
We are a high performing team of talented legal experts who work collaboratively to support our colleagues.
What is your management style?
I focus on cultivating the potential in others, by recognising that each person has unique qualities and identifying how different people can work best together. I allow team members to have independence while providing my support whenever needed.
What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role?
Excellent technical legal skills obtained at a reputable law firm and/or corporate, preferably in banking & financial services.
Excellent communication skills (including an ability to write concisely and clearly).
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess complex issues and give pragmatic advice.
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders, and to work collaboratively within a team.
Ability to work independently with support from more senior members of the team.

What do we want you to know before you apply?
To be successful is this role you must have :
3-10 + years’ post-qualification legal experience (depending on the level of the role)
New Zealand legal experience at a reputable law firm and/or corporate, preferably in banking & financial services.
Currently enrolled as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.
