Daily rhythm on the Dubai books

Your day-to-day revolves around ensuring the numbers line up and the records stay secure. You’ll check figures, postings, and documents for accuracy, and you’ll organize, protect, and maintain files, records, cash, and cash equivalents in line with policies and procedures. You’ll also record, store, access, and analyze computerized financial information, classifying and coding data to build up journals, ledgers, and other records so the books stay current.

Across the week you’ll prepare, audit, reconcile, and distribute a range of financial and accounting outputs, including reports and tables that cover statistics, accounting, auditing, and payroll where applicable. You’ll participate in period-end closing procedures and prepare the necessary close-out documents, while also handling the preparation, review, and issue of bills, invoices, and account statements in line with company procedures. Part of the role is following up on past-due accounts and vendor invoices until payment is settled or resolved, and you’ll manage the daily consolidated deposits of cash received by all cash-handling staff. You’ll document, communicate, and act on cash variances and administer cashier banks and contracts as required.

On the policy side, you’ll adhere to company procedures, maintain a professional appearance, protect confidential information and guest and coworker privacy, and communicate clearly in writing and in person. The job also includes a degree of light physical work, such as moving objects up to 10 pounds, and you’ll aim to build positive relationships with colleagues while supporting the team to reach shared goals. You may be asked to take on other reasonable duties as directed by Supervisors.

Foundations to succeed in this role

To be in the running, you’ll need the following basic qualifications and experiences.

  • A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • At least 1 year of related work experience in accounting or finance
  • No supervisory experience required
  • No licenses or certifications are required for this position

Extras that help you stand out

While not required, these capabilities can help you differentiate yourself.

  • Hands-on familiarity with cash handling processes, daily deposits, and tracking cash variances
  • Experience in creating and reviewing invoices and account statements, plus performing reconciliations
  • Exposure to period-end closing activities and related journal work
  • Strong communication around sensitive information and a track record of professionalism in a team setting

Guidance to help you stand out for this role

Lead your resume with the essentials the team is looking for: your highest credential (high school diploma or GED) and at least a year of related accounting or finance experience, and highlight any work that involved cash handling, deposits, or close procedures.

When you describe your experience, prove you can back up the must-haves by pointing to concrete tasks like verifying figure accuracy, processing invoices, handling daily deposits, and supporting period-end closings. If you’ve dealt with cash variances or reconciliations, call that out with a brief example of a past result or process you used.

In interviews, be ready to walk through how you would approach period-end closing, how you would resolve past-due accounts, and how you maintain confidentiality while communicating with teammates. You may also be asked to discuss a time you handled a cash variance or a discrepancy in postings, have a short, specific example ready.

If you get the chance to ask a question, consider asking about the size of the hotel’s finance team and the typical timeline for monthly closings, or how they measure and reduce cash variances across shifts.
