AECOM, a global infrastructure consulting firm, is hiring in Dubai for an Engineer - Civil إماراتيين (خلاصة القيد). This is a full-time, onsite role based in the Dubai office, designed for Emirati civil engineers who want to work on large-scale utilities and infrastructure projects with a diverse, international team.

AECOM partners with clients to shape the world’s skylines and utilities networks, from streets and lighting to water and power systems. The company emphasises practical impact and long-term legacies, and it operates with a workforce of more than 50,000 professionals worldwide. It’s a Fortune 500 firm that reported about $16.1 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2025, and it stresses equal opportunity in recruitment and career development.

In this Dubai-based role, you’ll join a global collective of engineers, planners and designers, collaborating to deliver projects that improve communities while advancing your own technical and leadership capabilities.

Daily life on a Dubai infrastructure project

You’ll bring a solid grasp of local Authority Guidelines for Dubai, Abu Dhabi and KSA, and apply that knowledge across dry utilities and infrastructure work from early concept masterplans through to IFC deliverables. The role calls for a strong background in infrastructure engineering and a track record delivering projects in this space.

Your scope includes electrical and utility elements such as primary substations, high and medium voltage corridors, LV networks, and various substation configurations, with the ability to perform the necessary calculations and craft clear reports. You’ll also shape the telecommunication backbone of a project, including ducts and manholes, and you’ll apply familiarity with GSM tower coverage requirements as part of the overall design.

Street lighting for different road types is part of the job, covering ROW considerations, lighting calculations, single-line diagrams, load schedules, and landscape lighting wiring. Collaboration is expected across multiple disciplines, wet services, roads, transportation, landscape and building teams, so your coordination and communication skills will be tested in multidisciplinary reviews and design integration sessions.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • A degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution
  • A clear grasp of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and KSA authority guidelines and standards
  • Proven experience managing dry utilities and infrastructure projects from concept through to IFC
  • A solid infrastructure engineering background with hands-on project experience
  • Experience with primary substations, EHV, HV and LV corridors, distribution and pocket substations, feeder pillars and service turrets, up to 33kV HV and LV networks, plus the ability to perform calculations and prepare reports
  • Telecommunication network design experience including ducts and manholes, and knowledge of GSM tower coverage requirements
  • Street lighting design for all road types, ROW, lighting calculations, SLDs, load schedules and landscape lighting branch wiring
  • Strong coordination skills across wet, roads, transportation, landscape and building teams

Compensation and on-site realities

The role is onsite in Dubai, with a full-time employment arrangement. AECOM offers a broad benefits package that can include medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D coverage, disability benefits, paid time off and leaves, voluntary benefits, flexible work options, well-being resources, an employee assistance program, business travel insurance, service recognition awards, a retirement savings plan and an employee stock purchase plan.

AECOM is a global infrastructure leader and a Fortune 500 company, reporting revenue of about $16.1 billion in fiscal year 2025. The firm emphasises equal opportunity and keeps employee information confidential in line with EEO guidelines. An important practical detail: all newly hired employees must attend in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.

For those who want a career with broad opportunities, AECOM promises a global network, access to advanced technology, and training and development programs designed to grow technical skills and leadership capabilities. The environment emphasises respect, collaboration and community, with room to progress in a world of opportunities.

Guidance for applicants

Lead your resume with the fact you hold a Civil Engineering degree and that you’re eligible as an Emirati candidate, then highlight your direct experience with infrastructure projects, especially those that moved from concept through IFC while handling dry utilities and substation elements.

When you describe your experience, point to concrete projects that demonstrate your ability to manage design work from masterplan through IFC, including calculations, report writing and the design of street lighting and telecom components.

In interviews, be prepared to explain how you coordinate across disciplines, wet, roads, landscape and building teams, and give a specific example of how you resolved a cross-disciplinary design issue on a similar project.

Ask a thoughtful question about how the Dubai-based team aligns local UAE guidelines with broader regional standards, and how Day 1 onboarding will set you up for success on the first project phase.
