Cyber Security Operations Specialist
MNPMNP, a proudly Canadian national firm known for its accounting, tax and business advisory services, is hiring a Cyber Security Operations Specialist to join its Technology – Cyber Security team in Calgary. The role is onsite and geared to someone who wants to translate security data into practical protections while helping safeguard the firm’s operations and reputation. If you like turning complex alerts into clear actions and collaborating across teams to tighten security, this could be the right fit.
As a trusted advisor in the cyber security function, you’ll investigate threats, shape policy and strengthen infrastructure to minimize the impact of security events. The team aims to stay ahead of cyber crime by leveraging new technologies and proactive practices, so you’ll help MNP stay prepared and resilient in a changing threat landscape. The company itself is Canada-born, with a culture that prizes entrepreneurial spirit and turning obstacles into opportunities for mid‑market clients.
This is a chance to work for a firm that puts practical impact first, in a setting that blends professional development with real-world responsibility. If you’re drawn to hands-on security work within a supportive, growth-minded environment, you’ll find a home here.
A practical rhythm for guarding the network
Day to day, you’ll sift through alerts from a variety of security tools, quickly assessing incidents, their potential impact and the best countermeasures to deploy. You’ll hunt for signs of malicious activity across the organization’s networks and systems and perform digital forensics to define the scope and nature of security events. You’ll translate findings into detailed reports to guide remediation, and help prepare user security awareness training and testing to raise overall vigilance. Monitoring the vulnerability posture of assets and coordinating with IT teams to remediate findings will be part of your routine, as will contributing to the development and refinement of incident response plans and standard operating procedures. Collaboration is key as you work with other teams to prevent, contain and eradicate threats, while you keep security policies and monitoring systems in good shape and aligned with current controls. You’ll also respond to ServiceNow inquiries from users and IT colleagues about policy conflicts and technical issues, and you’ll stay current on the latest trends and technologies to recommend appropriate security controls.

Three, four practical tips to help you stand out for this role
First, front‑load your resume with the most relevant experience. Lead with your five years of cyber security work and highlight concrete evidence of threat hunting, incident response, and post‑breach forensics, then call out cloud‑related infrastructure knowledge and your familiarity with ServiceNow inquiries or policy issues. This helps you hit the must‑have criteria quickly.
Second, prove the must‑have skills with specific examples. Describe a situation where you investigated a security alert, implemented containment, and guided remediation, or led a small process‑improvement effort that improved response times or policy enforcement. Tie each example to the skills the team is looking for, and mention any cross‑team collaboration that helped you achieve the result.
Third, prepare for interviews by outlining your approach to incident response and policy enforcement. Be ready to discuss how you stay current on cyber security trends and how you would align security controls with evolving threats, including how you would address policy conflicts raised via ServiceNow or similar ITSM channels.
Fourth, have a smart question ready to ask at the end. For instance: how does the Calgary security operations team measure success, and what would the first 90 days look like for the new hire in terms of goals and onboarding?
