The Opportunity Utilize your facilities management skills and experience and play a key role in supporting Macquarie Technology's Customer Mission Critical Services. You will play an integral part in the maintenance of facility infrastructure and in the response to any incidents related to the Data Centre facilities. This role requires shift hours to ensure coverage of our facilities. The role covers the three key areas: 1. Continuous proactive facility maintenance and contractor coordination,2. Supporting the Facility Manager; and3. Response and Resolution of facility incidents related to Macquarie Data Centre (MDC) Facilities.
The Data Centre Facility Technician also provides the necessary support and management to ensure Data Centre access security is maintained and assist with the creation and execution of relevant work processes and procedures. The MDC Operations Team is responsible for delivering world’s best data centre services. You’ll have the opportunity to work with emerging, new technologies and products, and experience opportunities to learn and grow while being supported by a highly motivated and diverse team.
What you will do
- Manage third party contractors during specialized facility equipment maintenance and servicing visits.
- Follow key Data Centre Facility Processes (Incident Management, Change Management, Access Management, Preventive Maintenance Plans).
- Attend major switching operations including annual mains fail simulation tests and major maintenance of the MEP.
- Perform and coordinate preventative maintenance actions to support reliable and scalable Data Centre infrastructure.
- Capacity Planning: managing and projecting the Data Centre requirements.
- Review facilities and services to meet business needs, including Rack allocation, Power Supply, Cooling Systems.
- Support and management for Physical Access and Logical Security to be maintained.
- Maintain restricted information and documentation security as per Security Policies and Procedures.
- Understand IT network topologies, revenue data collection designs and software tools to ensure uptime billing processes.
- Participate in the Change Management Process for MDC Operations.
- Respond to all Macquarie Campus reported facility and security incidents to resolve them within agreed SLA thresholds.
- Understand the MEP so emergency procedures outside standard SOP’s are readily applied to reduce/recover from disasters.
- Attend major switching operations including annual mains fail simulation tests and major maintenances of MEP
- Support Sales/Technical Consultants during the pre-sale process to determine customer requirements.
Your ideal skills and experience
- At least 2 years hands-on management experience in Enterprise Data Centres
- Eligible to obtain NV1 clearance (Australian Citizenship required)
- Proven record in respect of dealing with Data Centre MEP technologies
- Proven record in developing and executing Data Centre routine maintenance activity
- Good knowledge of building services (Structural, DRUPS/UPS, HV/LV switchgear, Electrical Design, Generators, Security Systems, HVAC, Fire, Security, EMS, ECMS, BMS)
