Design Desk Engineer (International)
Intelligent Technical SolutionsIntelligent Technical Solutions is hiring a Design Desk Engineer for an onsite, international role based in International City, AE. The position focuses on turning business and technical requirements into architecture and implementation-ready project documentation, supporting solution design, proposal development, technical scoping, workplans, request triage, and ongoing stakeholder updates. ITS uses AI-assisted design tools to speed up the creation of statements of work and design deliverables, while engineers stay accountable for accuracy, feasibility, and overall quality. The team brings depth across server infrastructure, virtualization, networking, security, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Azure, so you’ll collaborate with the vCIO strategy to shape technically solid solutions.
As part of the Design Desk, you’ll translate client requirements into practical designs and documentation that teams can implement, including proposals, workplans, required outcomes, assumptions, exclusions, dependencies, and milestones. You’ll assess technical feasibility, licensing, risks, and scope alignment, ensuring readiness for implementation. The role also requires reviewing incoming design requests for missing information, validating environment data, maintaining clear ownership of each request, and keeping stakeholders in the loop about schedules and decisions. You’ll participate in triage and daily operations, and you’ll prepare for vCIO discussions by documenting requirements, risks, outcomes, and next steps, all while using approved templates, vendor docs, and AI-assisted tools with independent validation of the final material.
Overall, the Design Desk Engineer needs a broad technical foundation and a practical mindset for turning complex requirements into clear, implementable design artifacts that clients and internal teams can rely on.
A day in the life of the Design Desk
Your day begins by translating client business requirements and vCIO strategy into architecture that is ready for delivery, producing design documents and implementation plans that guide projects from start to finish. You’ll develop technical solutions, statements of work, workplans, business requirements, intended outcomes, and the necessary prerequisites, milestones, and dependencies to keep initiatives on track.
Throughout the day you’ll perform technical scoping and validate that proposed designs are technically feasible, aligned with scope, properly licensed, and free of critical gaps or risks. You’ll verify that relevant environment information, such as users, workstations, mailboxes, servers, locations, and supporting docs, is complete and accurate, and you’ll maintain ownership of each request with transparent status updates and clear next steps. When impediments arise, you’ll communicate delays or changes to stakeholders and help the team adjust schedules accordingly.
You'll participate in Design Desk triage, monitor workload and KPIs, and contribute to the team’s operational rhythm. You’ll also support vCIO discussions by documenting requirements, risks, outcomes, and recommended next steps, and you’ll rely on approved templates, prior examples, and vendor literature to reinforce your recommendations. While AI-assisted design tools accelerate drafting and proposals, you’ll review generated material to ensure technical validity and overall quality before delivery.
What you’ll need to bring
Must-haves include broad hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud services, solid knowledge of server infrastructure, virtualization, and networking, and a strong grounding in security technologies. You should have a track record in solution architecture and design as well as in technical scoping and implementation planning, with the ability to evaluate proposed designs, challenge or improve recommendations, identify risks and gaps, and validate AI-assisted outputs before they reach clients. Clear written and spoken English is essential, and you must be able to work full time (40 hours per week) from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM PST, Monday through Friday, plus you’ll need to pass online behavior and cognitive assessments. Ideally you hold at least two of the following certifications: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or 3cx Basic Certified Engineer, and provide an NBI Clearance if you’re a PH applicant.
Nice-to-haves include familiarity with the Design Desk’s toolset and platforms, such as ConnectWise PSA, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Design Desk document libraries, IT Glue, MSPBots, Strety, and the approved AI-assisted Design Desk engineering tools.
