Head of Estimating
Role Context:
A rare opportunity has opened for a UK Head of Estimating. This role sits within the Project Services Leadership Team and facilitates Worley’s estimating processes, standards, and procedures. Worley is looking for an expert in Project Lifecycle Estimating with full EPC project delivery experience to lead our UK Estimating team. The successful candidate will possess sound business and commercial acumen, have a proven track record of delivering multi-faceted estimates for project forecasts which have fallen within the accuracy range of final actual costs, be action orientated, growth mindset, and result focused.
You'll do/carry out:
- Line management of estimating resources across the Worley UK offices.
- Talent acquisition and competency development, mentoring and training.
- Team performance management and appraisals.
- Workload management of the Estimating team, utilizing the UK Estimating hub, and other global resources, including GID.
- Provide strategic guidance and trusted advisory SME support to senior stakeholders, proposal development and project teams.
- Liaise with the Proposals team to identify TIC Estimating requirements and ensure the proposed project execution strategy is in-line with Worley’s Estimating procedures and guidelines.
- Proposal delivery for professional service estimates and scoping CTR for TIC estimates.
- Support Proposal Development with estimate validation/reviews (Technical and Commercial).
- Ensure quality assured estimate development including estimates review(s), validation/benchmarking and documentation/presentation.Actively participate in global estimating leadership councils and networks.
- Develop regional Front-End Estimating capabilities that leverage techno-economic evaluations to support strategic investment planning.
- Drive capability in full Project EPCM delivery models.
- Drive capability with the Risk team in Risk modelling on Capital Cost Estimates.
- Responsible for the rollout of new Worley Estimating software.
- Champions system optimization, data integrity, and continuous improvement across global estimating operations.
- Ensures that Worley’s Cleopatra functional enhancement roadmap align with
- Worley’s Management System and operational requirements.
- Supports successful project delivery and transformation initiatives.
You'll have:
- A Degree or Diploma in relevant discipline preferred.
- Extensive experience in managing or leading Estimating teams working on Pre-FEED, FEED and EPC Projects.
- Sound project delivery experience.
- Strong commercial acumen and experience in all commercial contracting models/risk profiles and project scopes/phases (FEL/EPC/EPCM & Lump Sum/Fixed Price/Target Price/Reimbursable, etc).
- A strong understanding of AACEi Estimate Classifications including required engineering deliverables and market data to support targeted accuracies.
- Experience with hands-on development of a wide range of estimates from large multi-billion estimates detailed estimates to small conceptual studies.
- Experience in leading people and high performing teams.
- Experience of successfully engaging with project mgt., engineering, capture mgt, regional leads and executive management.
- Motivational leadership style and strong communication skills with ability to develop high performance culture.
- Proven success with benchmarking and data analytic skills.
- Ability to mitigate risks effectively through commercial analysis and positive decision making.
- Advanced user skillset of Microsoft Office Applications.
- Strong understanding of the Cleopatra Estimating Software and other estimating systems, tools, and processes.
- Proven ability to develop best-in-class practices, tools, and governance frameworks supporting estimating, change management, reporting, and overall project execution.
- Budgeting Skills: Control operational team budget, ensuring billability of the team
- Strong organizational and workload planning skills
