LKQ Corporation is looking for a Dismantler to join its Winnipeg, CA team. This full-time, onsite role is well-suited for hands-on folks who enjoy working around vehicles and want opportunities to grow within a supportive environment. The company emphasizes growth potential, competitive benefits, and a positive team culture.

The Dismantler works in the Processing Department, following current standards and local regulations to dismantle automobiles safely and efficiently under the direction of the Production Manager. It’s a role for someone who likes clear guidelines, practical learning, and steady collaboration with a shop crew.

If you’re energized by on-the-job training, working with a team, and handling parts from tagging to storage, this could be a good match. The role does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Rolling up sleeves in the dismantling bay

In the dismantling bay you’ll assist the Dismantler/Trainer with taking vehicles apart and you’ll learn the system used to dismantle, tag, and store parts.

You’ll team with Engine Dismantlers as needed to gain exposure to engine dismantling.

Safety is a core priority, with adherence to all standards to keep the workplace safe. You’ll take on other duties as assigned by supervision.

What you’ll need to start

A background in body repair, mechanical work, or prior dismantling tasks helps you hit the ground running, and you may be required to bring your own tool set to perform duties.

  • Experience in body repair, mechanical work, or prior dismantling tasks
  • Possession of a personal toolset may be required

You’ll also rely on basic arithmetic for measurements and conversions, basic computer skills, and the ability to communicate simple messages and keep brief records. Most problems you’ll encounter are routine and solved by following clear directions with guidance from a supervisor.

Nice-to-have touches

A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.

The physical side of the job

While performing the duties of this role, you may stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit for extended periods.

You might be exposed to hazardous situations, conditions, and equipment and must be comfortable working in cramped spaces or underneath vehicles in awkward positions. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is often required, and extreme temperatures and high noise levels can occur.

Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays, depending on position requirements.

You must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.

Tips for landing the LKQ dismantler role

Lead with the most relevant experience on your resume, body repair, mechanical work, or prior dismantling, and note if you own tools the shop may require.

Back up your claims with concrete examples of math tasks, basic computer use, and keeping brief records or simple messages in past roles to prove you can handle the prerequisites.

In interviews, be ready to talk about how you follow safety standards, work under supervision, and handle tasks in a shop setting where PPE and tight spaces are common.

Ask about how the parts are tagged and stored and whether there is training to pick up engine dismantling, so you understand the growth path inside the team.
