Job Description

Shape the future of data, AI and intelligent energy systems at Vector

At Vector, we’re not just upgrading infrastructure, we’re transforming how energy is delivered, optimised and experienced. Supported by a multiyear investment programme and our Symphony Strategy, we’re modernising our digital foundations and accelerating how we use data driven intelligence to build a cleaner, more resilient and more responsive energy future.

Data and AI are central to this evolution. We’re developing intelligent platforms that enable automation, enhance customer experiences, streamline operations and support new ways of working across our electricity, gas, fibre and corporate environments.

This is where you come in.

The Role

We’re looking for a Data and AI Domain Architect who can bring leadership, clarity and challenge to how Vector designs, governs and evolves its Data and AI landscape.

This is a role for someone who can translate strategy into practical architectural direction, setting frameworks, principles and patterns while partnering with delivery teams to ensure outcomes are achieved. You’ll balance the art and science of architecture: enabling progress, guiding decisions and supporting teams where needed.

You’ll shape how Vector adopts AI safely and effectively across the enterprise, including AI assisted development, large-scale data platforms, guardrails, assurance and emerging agentic frameworks. Your scope spans traditional and operational data, observability, network systems, and enterprise platforms such as ERP and our Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS).

You’ll do this within a collaborative architecture community that values open discussion, constructive challenge and doing what’s right for the organisation.

On a typical week you can expect to

  • Own and evolve the target state architecture for Data and AI across cloud, analytics, operational data, machine learning and enterprise systems.
  • Set clear standards, principles, patterns and guardrails to support safe, consistent and accelerated delivery.
  • Provide architectural assurance across initiatives, ensuring alignment with security, regulatory and enterprise direction.
  • Guide how Vector expands into advanced AI capabilities, including Snowflake Cortex, AWS Bedrock and other emerging AI tooling, frameworks and methodologies.
  • Shape the decision-making frameworks, assurance processes and ethical boundaries governing AI adoption.
  • Mentor and uplift architects and senior engineers across data, integration, analytics and AI.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear narratives that support business decision making.
  • Operate with an agile, enterprise savvy mindset - practical, action oriented, outcome focused, and able to navigate around nonessential process barriers.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Extensive experience designing and governing modern data architectures, analytics platforms and cloud native data ecosystems.
  • Recognised expertise and hands-on experience in AI - from foundational frameworks and methodologies through to real world delivery.
  • Experience working across both enterprise environments and fast paced, innovative settings (startup exposure is a plus).
  • The ability to influence without authority, challenge constructively and operate confidently amidst ambiguity.
  • A blend of strategic thinking with hands-on capability when needed.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong stakeholder engagement.
  • A collaborative, partnership approach grounded in curiosity.

Why join Vector?

  • Competitive salary
  • Be part of a transformative, forward-thinking organisation at the forefront of energy and digital innovation
  • Work in a collaborative and inclusive environment with a strong focus on professional development
  • Enjoy flexibility, including work-from-home options and flexible hours
  • Comprehensive health and wellbeing support
  • Great benefits that reflect the importance of family
