Meridian Energy is seeking a motivated Electrical Apprentice for full‑time, onsite work in Manapōuri, joining a supportive team across our hydro and wind assets. Mō te tūranga | What you’ll be doing    

As an electrical apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience and learn valuable skills in a supportive environment.  

You will complete 3 one-year cycles at some of our most iconic hydro and wind assets, where you’ll get: 

  • Whakangungu (Training): Complete on-the-job training alongside experienced tradespeople, mentors and coaches. 

  • Whakawhanaketanga (Development): Undertake the theoretical and practical studies you need to qualify. 

  • Whānau (Community): Be part of a close-knit team, working in a small local community.

Other desirable experience and skill includes: 

  • You’ll hold a valid NZ Drivers License 

  • You’ll be that reliable person that takes both hard work and your health and safety responsibilities very seriously.   

  • You will be a proactive thinker, seek out opportunities to learn and develop, and you’ll be self-driven towards gaining your qualifications and building your reputation. 

  • It would be an advantage if you have already started your journey by completing or currently undertaking a pre-trade certificate. 

  • You’ll need reasonable literacy and communication skills for the paperwork and hands-on work required. 

  • Some practical skills and experience (e.g. use of hand tools) would be beneficial. 

  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn will drive you to success. 

  • You’re committed to completing the apprenticeship program.
