Essentials include some work experience, good hand skills, NZ permanent resident or citizen status, a valid driver’s license with reliable transport, a clean criminal record, and the ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol tests; you should have solid maths (NCEA level 2) and ideally physics, with any electrical pre-trade course or gateway placement a bonus. You’ll need to:
• Be reliable – on time every time
• Have some job experience - whether that’s labouring experience, or holiday jobs
• Be good with your hands – you know how to use tools
• Have your driver’s license (Restricted or Full) with reliable transport to get to work
• Have a clean criminal record
• Be able to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol tests
• Be a NZ permanent resident or citizen
• Have an insight into the Electrical trade. Very good at math (at least NCEA L2) and preferably have studied physics. Maybe you have completed an electrical pre-trade course or have completed an Electrical gateway placement while at school (but this is not mandatory)
