Electrical Engineer (TAQA Approved)
Ghobash GroupThe Ghobash Group is hiring for an Electrical Engineer (TAQA Approved) through its Emirates Electrical & Instrumentation Company LLC in Abu Dhabi. EEIC has supported the UAE’s oil and gas sector for almost 20 years, working with ADNOC and a range of Tier 1 and Tier 2 EPC contractors to deliver electrical and instrumentation projects both onshore and offshore. The role sits within a broader group known for its hands-on, field-focused approach to complex electrical installations.
Based in Abu Dhabi, this is a full-time, onsite position that calls for practical leadership on site, collaboration with clients, consultants and subcontractors, and hands-on oversight of electrical works from package drawing checks to final commissioning. It would suit engineers who value clear on-site communication and a steady hand in coordinating multi-disciplinary teams on high-stakes infrastructure projects.
As a TAQA approved opportunity, the role centers on supervising electrical activities, ensuring work aligns with approved drawings, specifications, and project schedules, while keeping safety and quality at the forefront. The company operates within the Ghobash Group ecosystem, so you’ll join a team that values practical problem solving and reliable delivery on site.
On the ground with MV power work
On a typical day you’ll oversee MV cable laying by direct burial, duct bank, trench, and cable tray, making sure route surveys, trenching, bedding, cable pulling, and backfill are carried out to plan. You’ll also prepare and review cable pulling plans, covering pulling tension, bending radius, and drum handling, together with cable schedules and route layouts to guide the crew.
You’ll supervise cable jointing and termination by qualified jointers and verify compliance with manufacturer procedures and approved kits. You’ll validate cable identification, tagging, route markers, warning tape, protective tiles, and maintain precise as-built route records. Coordination with civil teams on trenches, duct banks, road crossings, and utility clearances happens before excavation starts to avoid surprises on site.
Coordinate and witness pre-energization testing, including insulation resistance, VLF/hipot, sheath integrity, continuity, and phasing, then review test results to ensure defects are corrected before energization. You’ll support commissioning activities with clients, consultants, and third-party testers, and supervise day-to-day electrical installation activities in line with drawings, specifications, and project timelines. Monitor the installation of transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS systems, generators, lighting and earthing systems, and review drawings, method statements, and work procedures before execution. Site inspections and adherence to quality requirements and ITPs will be a regular part of the role. You’ll identify technical issues such as route clashes, material delays, and design queries, proposing practical solutions to avoid delays, and plan and control materials and storage on site. Finally, you’ll coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams, prepare progress reports, participate in project meetings, and support close-out, punch list clearance, and handover documentation.
Desirable knowledge includes reading electrical drawings and single-line diagrams, familiarity with IEC, IEEE, and ADNOC standards, and proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD.

Compensation, logistics and site basics
The role is full-time and onsite, based in Abu Dhabi, delivering electrical installation and commissioning work on project sites in the oil and gas sector. The posting notes TAQA approval as a credential for the role, reflecting a preference for candidates who bring familiarity with TAQA-style infrastructure projects and standards.
Tips to stand out for this TAQA‑approved role
Lead your resume with eight to ten years of relevant electrical construction, installation, and commissioning work, and foreground MV cable laying and electrical infrastructure projects, especially if you have ADNOC or TAQA experience.
When you demonstrate the must-have skills, cite specific projects where you supervised cable laying, jointing and termination, and on-site pre-energization tests. Show the exact tests you witnessed or led (like insulation resistance and VLF/hipot) and how you used ITPs to drive quality and safety on site.
For interview prep, be ready to discuss how you handled route surveys, cable pulling plans, and coordination with civil teams to avoid clashes. Prepare to walk through a concrete example where you identified a design query and delivered a practical solution that kept a project on schedule.
Ask a precise question about the current TAQA infrastructure projects the company is involved in and how this role interfaces with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and third-party testers to drive successful handover and project close-out.
