Radisson Blu Hotel, Amsterdam City Center is seeking an Engineer to join its onsite Technical Department. Part of the Radisson Hotel Group, a major global hospitality company with more than 1,500 hotels in operation and development across 95+ countries, the group lives by the Yes I Can service ethos and a promise that Every Moment Matters. The team values hands-on problem-solvers who take ownership and care about guest experiences, and the role sits in a hotel where no two days are the same. This onsite position puts you at the heart of daily operations in Amsterdam, working closely with the hotel’s technical team to keep the property safe, reliable and guest-ready.

If you enjoy tackling technical challenges, delivering practical fixes, and seeing the direct impact of your work on guest stays, this could be a good fit. You’ll be part of a collaborative environment where teamwork matters for a smooth guest experience from check-in to checkout. The Engineer is responsible for keeping the hotel running without interruption and supporting renovation and improvement projects as needed.

A day in the life at the hotel’s technical hub

On a typical day you’ll tend to guest rooms, public areas, kitchens, lighting, plumbing, HVAC and the technical equipment that keeps the building comfortable and secure. You’ll repair electrical, mechanical and building-related installations and run preventive maintenance and inspections to head off issues before they affect guests. You’ll install and maintain electrical systems and assist with renovation projects, coordinating with external contractors and ensuring work is completed safely. You’ll also look for opportunities to spot small problems before they become bigger ones and take action to address them.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • About 1–2 years of hands-on experience in a technical maintenance or engineering role, with hotel experience considered a plus but not required.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical installations and/or mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • An eye for detail that helps you spot issues before they affect operations.
  • Flexibility and a positive, Yes I Can attitude when handling shifting tasks and on-call duties.
  • Strong verbal communication skills in English to coordinate with colleagues, contractors and guests when needed.
  • A creative, practical approach to solving problems.
  • Willingness to participate in a fair rotating weekend schedule shared across the technical team and to take part in the on-call duty roster.

Nice-to-haves

  • Hotel experience is a plus, not a must.

Pay, perks and practical details

The role is onsite in Amsterdam, with a rotating weekend schedule shared across the technical team and on-call duties as part of the roster. The benefits package includes up to 53% off stays for team members at Radisson Hotels worldwide, a guaranteed minimum of 30% off for friends and family, and exclusive discounts on breakfast, food and beverage, spa and more. The company emphasizes growth, learning and career development, and a culture that values inclusion and belonging through Employee Resource Groups and inclusion initiatives. Radisson also notes it welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, abilities, and experiences, and offers adjustments during the application process if needed.

Advice for applicants

Lead with your hands-on maintenance experience. Open your resume with a concise summary of the technical work you’ve done, highlighting the systems you’ve managed (electrical, HVAC, plumbing) and any preventive maintenance programs you’ve led.

Back up your claims about the must-have skills with concrete examples. Show how you’ve demonstrated attention to detail, creative problem solving and a can-do attitude, and include experience coordinating with external contractors or teams in a hotel setting.

Be ready to discuss how you handle on-call duties and weekend rotations, including how you stay responsive after hours and communicate clearly with guests and colleagues when issues arise.

Have a smart question prepared about how the weekend rotation and on-call schedule are managed across the technical team, or about how renovation projects are sequenced to minimise guest disruption while keeping timelines on track.
