Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Project Director - Cost Estimating to lead and grow our Cost Management capability across Australia. This is a strategic leadership opportunity for an industry expert who is passionate about client service, business growth and developing high-performing teams.

As Project Director - Cost Estimating, you will lead our cost estimating function across Australia, driving technical excellence, operational performance and business growth. You will be responsible for building and developing a high-performing team while strengthening client relationships and expanding our market presence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and mentoring cost management team leaders and professionals to deliver exceptional client outcomes.
  • Acting as the primary senior interface for clients, building trusted relationships and identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Overseeing the delivery of cost estimating and cost management services, ensuring quality, consistency and timely project delivery.
  • Establishing and maintaining standardised systems, procedures and documentation aligned with Turner & Townsend standards and client expectations.
  • Driving business development activities, securing new opportunities and supporting tender submissions, negotiations and client presentations.
  • Managing resource planning, financial performance, forecasting and commission profitability across the portfolio.
  • Ensuring team capability through coaching, development and relevant technical training.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Professional qualifications in Construction, Cost Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture or a related discipline.
  • 20+ years of experience in cost estimating, cost management or consultancy services within the construction industry.
  • Proven experience leading cost estimating or cost management commissions on major, complex construction projects.
  • Strong commercial acumen, business development capability and a track record of growing client relationships.
  • Demonstrated success leading, mentoring and developing high-performing cost management teams.
  • Sound knowledge of construction procurement strategies, estimating principles, value engineering and industry best practice.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills.
