MacKillop Family Services invites applications for a part-time 0.8 EFT Family Time Facilitator and Mentor in Blacktown to supervise Birth family contact for children in care, including planning, supervising and reporting on visits under trained staff. The successful candidate will hold a diploma in a child related field, have relevant experience, understand trauma and child development, and be able to de escalate crises. Requirements include a valid driver’s licence, a clear Criminal History Check, a Working with Children Check, and an NDIS Workers Screening Check; MacKillop assists with these. About the role:

The position provides supervised Birth family contact to children and young people in out of home care with opportunities to maintain and develop relationships with their Birth family in a safe, supportive environment under the supervision of trained staff. The Family time facilitator and Mentor is responsible for planning, supervising and reporting on contact visits.

This is a Part-time (0.8 EFT) opportunity based in Blacktown, NSW within our Permanency Support Program and reports to the Senior Contact Worker.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A diploma in a child-related field
• Demonstrated experience in supervised contact, out of home care, children’s services, youth work or a related field;
• Demonstrated understanding of child and adolescent development, the impact of trauma, and the indicators of child abuse;
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour; and prevent and/or de-escalate crisis.
