Electrical QA/QC Engineer – Detailed Job Description
Job Title: Electrical QA/QC Engineer
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and inspect electrical installation activities at the project site.
- Ensure electrical works comply with approved shop drawings, specifications, and method statements .
- Prepare and maintain Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and quality checklists.
- Prepare and submit Material Inspection Requests (MIRs) and Work Inspection Requests (WIRs/IRs) .

Inspect installation of:
- LV/MV cables
- Cable trays and cable ladders
- Cable containment
- Electrical conduits
- Distribution boards and panels
- Switchgear
- Transformers
- Generators
- Lighting systems
- Small power systems
- Earthing and lightning protection
- Electrical equipment
- Verify cable laying, glanding, termination, tagging, and dressing.
- Inspect electrical panels, DBs, MCCs, and switchgear installations.
- Check installation of lighting fixtures, switches, sockets, and other electrical accessories.
- Inspect earthing and bonding systems and verify continuity and resistance test results.
- Coordinate with testing and commissioning teams for electrical testing activities.
- Review and verify electrical test reports and commissioning records.
- Ensure materials received on site are approved and comply with project requirements.
- Review Material Submittals, Technical Submittals, Method Statements, and Inspection Procedures .
- Identify defective or non-compliant work and coordinate corrective actions.
- Prepare and follow up on NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), observations, and corrective actions .
- Coordinate with consultants, clients, subcontractors, engineers, and site teams for inspections and approvals.
- Maintain proper QA/QC documentation, inspection records, test reports, and quality logs.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential quality issues before they become major problems.
- Ensure all works are completed according to approved IFC/shop drawings and project specifications .
- Participate in quality meetings and coordination meetings.
- Assist in preparing as-built drawings and final handover documentation .
- Ensure all quality documentation is completed before project handover.
Electrical Testing Knowledge
The candidate should have knowledge of testing and inspection such as:
- Insulation Resistance (IR) testing
- Continuity testing
- Earth resistance testing
- Cable testing
- Megger testing
- Phase sequence testing
- RCD/ELCB testing
- High-voltage testing where applicable
- Functional testing of electrical equipment
- Lighting and emergency lighting testing
- Generator and transformer testing
- Switchgear and panel testing
Standards & Codes
Knowledge of relevant standards and requirements such as:
- IEC Standards
- BS Standards
- NFPA , where applicable
- Local authority requirements
- DEWA requirements for Dubai projects
- Client/consultant specifications
- Project-specific QA/QC procedures
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's/Diploma in Electrical Engineering .
- 3–7 years of relevant QA/QC experience in electrical construction projects.
- Strong experience in electrical installation inspection and testing.
- Good knowledge of ITP, MIR, WIR/IR, NCR, Method Statements, and inspection procedures .
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and specifications.
- Experience with commercial buildings, high-rise buildings, residential projects, hotels, hospitals, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
- UAE/GCC project experience is an advantage.
- Good communication, coordination, reporting, and documentation skills.
Short Client Requirement
Electrical QA/QC Engineer with 3–7 years of experience in electrical construction and MEP projects. Must have strong knowledge of electrical inspection, testing & commissioning, ITP, MIR, WIR/IR, NCR, method statements, material approvals, and electrical installation works including LV/MV cables, cable trays, panels, lighting, power, earthing, and testing. UAE/GCC experience preferred.
