Job Summary
- Carries out manual tasks which contribute to the carrying out of the project for their professional specialty (road, pipelines, rail, etc.) in observance of the safety guidelines.
Main Responsibilities
- Cleaning and preparing the construction site and pavement surfaces.
- Keep equipment and tools in good working condition.
- Shoves asphalt and other materials.
- Luting/raking asphalt and aggregates.
- Set-up and take down temporary work zones efficiently..
- Optimal traffic control in and around work zones (flagging) crafting a safe environment for traffic and onsite workers.
- Assist in backing and dumping of tri-axles and milling machines.
- Handling of hot liquid asphalt and various materials.
- Remove old asphalt, concrete and other materials using a jackhammer or cut-off saw.
- Erect and remove delineating devices such as barrels and cones.
- Seal end joints.
- Help fill water tanks on equipment as needed.
- Compact material with small hand rollers and vibratory plates.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Education
- High School Diploma/GED
Physical Requirements
- Required to pass a drug screening and PAT (physical abilities test).
- Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear).
- Frequent exposure to loud noise.
- Regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles.
- Valid Driver's License and excellent driving record.
- Road Construction experience preferred.
- Follow all DOT and company safety regulations.
- Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE), as required.
