The Opportunity

The Geographic Information System (GIS) Consultant position is responsible for providing expertise and support for a variety of GIS projects. The GIS Consultant plays an important role in assisting with the design, development, and implementation of GIS solutions to assist our clients in making informed decisions to support planning and development.

Main Activities and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

  • Deliver high-quality digital solutions that support social and environmental projects. 
  • Collect, validate, and analyse environmental data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and integrate digital solutions into larger project frameworks.
  • Organise, edit and manipulate geographic data to extract meaningful information, and visualise geographic information effectively.
  • Evaluate monitoring methods, measurement techniques, and environmental regulations to check and validate data.
  • Develop conceptual models and prepare technical reports and assessments.
  • Maintaining system documentation and ensuring compliance with industry and international standards.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure data expectations are met.
  • Project manage small projects or discrete work packages.

Qualifications (Minimum and Desirable):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Sciences or Equivalent.

Required skills and experience:

  • Typically, 2-5 years’ experience.
  • Competency in data QA and interpretation, able to write descriptive and interpretive reports. 
  • Familiarity with environmental monitoring systems is highly regarded.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills in client management.
  • Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines effectively.
  • High Attention to detail in data analysis and report preparation.
  • Proven experience creating, maintaining and optimising GIS workflows.
  • Experience in applying legislation, standards, guidelines and project specifications.

The Salary for this role will be based on the experience of the successful candidate, between $85,000 to $90,000 inclusive of superannuation.
