Job Description

The Gold Rush Corporate Internship Program is an opportunity for ambitious students who are enrolled in a Business - Accounting/Finance program at a Canadian academic institution, and who are highly interested in the mining industry.

This program provides:

  • Opportunities working closely with various departments in Kinross’ Corporate Office in Toronto, Ontario gaining real-world experience in an exciting, dynamic industry.

Job Responsibilities

The Corporate Finance Intern will assist the Corporate Accounting and Accounts Payable functions of the Kinross Finance department:

  • Participate in Kinross’ vendor verification program by facilitating independent calls to vendors to confirm banking details to prevent fraud and maintain integrity in the payments process
  • Assist with the month-end and quarter-end close processes through preparation of routine journal entries
  • Support the intercompany and external gold sales process through preparation and management of internal invoices
  • Assist in performing trade confirmations with external financial institutions
  • Review incoming invoices from vendors determining system accuracy of capturing relevant details
  • Perform routine activities to process invoices and enable payments ensuring timeliness and accuracy
  • Assist with other ad-hoc requests and analysis across the greater Corporate Finance team including the Payroll function as necessary

Education and Experience

2nd or 3rd year Business - Accounting/Finance (or related) program with a strong academic record

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to learn quickly and to work well in a team environment     
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of business/accounting

Compensation & Total Rewards

The base salary range for this role is $44,226 to $60,060 CAD, plus 4% vacation pay.

The hiring range reflects our targeted compensation framework for the role. The actual offer will be determined through a comprehensive evaluation of each candidate’s experience, capabilities, and potential impact, along with consideration of internal equity, team structure, and benchmark market data for similar positions.
