Oerlikon is seeking an Engineering Operative (grinder) for its busy Dukinfield facility to manufacture precision oil and gas components. This full-time onsite role involves setting up, operating and monitoring diamond grinding machines, selecting tooling, and adjusting feeds and speeds to achieve tight tolerances. You will measure with micrometers, dial indicators and CMMs, interpret engineering drawings, and maintain safety and cleanliness in line with training. Grinder
We are looking for an Engineering Operative (grinder) at our busy manufacturing facility in Dukinfield. You will be responsible for the manufacture of components within the oil and gas industry. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team with the opportunity to further your career.

Your Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor diamond grinding machines (e.g., surface/ring grinders, cylindrical grinders, internal grinders).
- Select appropriate tooling based on material type, finish requirements, and engineering specifications.
- Adjust feeds, speeds, and grinding parameters to achieve required surface tolerances and dimensional accuracy.
- Perform precision measurements using micrometers, dial indicators, CMM equipment, and other metrology tools.
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Safely operate all machines as required, and in accordance with training within engineering department
- Final polishing of component if required (trained employees only)
- Change grinding wheels in accordance with health and safety training provided
- Final check on finished work, with dye penetrant testing if required (trained employees only)
- Ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external regulations, directives and legislation
- Ensure own working area is kept clean and tidy
- Apply LEAN principles and aim for continual improvement
Your Profile
- Experience in a similar environment would be an advantage.
- Being a multi skilled operator would be a distinct advantage.
- Ability to read and understand engineering/technical drawings.
- Ability to adhere to Health and Safety standards
