Summary:

Operate and maintain large roll grinding equipment to refurbish paper machine rolls while meeting Voith's quality and safety standards. This hands-on role requires experience with grinding equipment, overhead cranes, and material handling, as well as the flexibility to support production needs through shift work, overtime, and cross-training opportunities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and maintain large roll grinder used to grind all types of rubber, polyurethane, resin covered or steel large diameter paper machine rolls.
  • Perform all job requirements according to procedures as outlined in the VOITH quality manual, company procedures, and work instructions. 
  • Perform all inspection functions as required by work instructions. 
  • Operate and maintain grinder equipment and tooling safely and effectively.
  • Safely lift and move heavy loads using an overhead crane.
  • Perform and assist with grinding setup procedures on large equipment.
  • Display a good attitude conducive to a shop environment.
  • Perform required job functions in a safe and efficient manner and promoting Quality per Voith Standards.  
  • Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Support business and customer needs by working overtime when required.
  • Learn and perform additional operational tasks as required to support business needs.
  • Work assigned shifts as required to support operational and business needs.

 

Requirements:

  • Some manual lifting (up to 50 lbs)
  • Experience with the following equipment:  large roll grinders, overhead crane, forklift, hand truck and hand tools
  • Experience with paper mill roll grinding preferred.
  • Experience with background in roll grinding other than paper mill rolls.
  • Experience on other similar industrial equipment.
  • A trainee may be considered if they exhibit the requirements as detailed under general responsibilities
  • High School Diploma preferred but not required if the experience level, determined by Voith management, off-sets this requirement.
